Well that is a big problem of Beast Wars characters, and maybe their curse, that they only tend to fit and work in stuff that's actually Beast Wars.

I do believe they will one day try to go full Beast Wars again for a run in Generations, though, but on the other hand I doubt there will ever be a Beast Wars "Cyberverse"-type equivalent.

I never said it was the best. I said it was WAY bigger, and I stated the associated reasons as to why that was. "Best" is a matter of opinion, regardless.

not really. Blackarachnia and Waspinator worked just fine in Animated. and the Beast Wars characters that appeared in the idw comics worked just fine.
the only part that doesnt "really work" is the squishy beast mode. tweak the design a little, mechanize the beast mode and they work just fine alongside geewun beasties like the dinobots and insecticons (the way idw did)

I agree that they need to just integrate BW characters into the fold instead of making them separate. When Hasbro finally gets around to making Barrage and Ransack retools from Bombshell and Kickback, they should make Venom and Waspinator retools of each other. Who says you can’t have another Insecticon? Personally I’d love Beet Papil too but that’s never gonna happen.

The problem is that when you actually have TRUKK vs MUNKEY the monkey tends to end up splattered on the road.

It worked fine in Animated thanks to the aesthetics being so flexible, everyone got together and it just worked. But in IDW it worked ok but it never felt quite right. They had the different colonies to fall back on, but so much of that felt forced like fan service and I never felt they really belonged (except with the Wreckers stories, but those were always a cut above the rest and the exception not the rule). Plus in the end IDW just threw in the towel and just made all of the Maximals mindless canon fodder troops for Onyx and Unicron, not exactly the media representation people are hoping for.

And that's the real part that doesn't work, people want Beast Wars to actually be featured and matter, not just a quick homage here and there. Stuff like making Optimus Primal the new Matrix bearer was cool, but they're not going anywhere with that, if you want these guys to get over in new TF media then they need real plots involving these characters and not just have Rattrap and Waspinator pop up from time to time and call it a day.

Awesome it would be if they were Generations styled figures I'm not expecting them to be none other then either MP reissues or even a new line of products aimed for kids.

Yeah man! Evergreen designs are just too good to be stuck with underwhelming Authentics/Cyberverse.

I love the idea of sub-Masterpieces also, as long as they maintained the accessories/paint apps.

Yeah I think MPs are outrageously priced, but I would pay more for better quality...just not $100+ each.

Yeah, and for me the size is a big factor too. I love the mainline Deluxe/Voyager sizes, and a *almost*10 inch tall Optimus just seems excessive. Not to mention, the bigger they are, the bigger characters like Dinobots and combiners need to be, and then you run out of shelf space way faster.

    Prexactly.

I’m still curious as to what toy they could possibly use for “year of the tiger-baboon chimera”

But not if its a Trunkkey.

@GizmoTron Oh. I thought they'd named their company after a tree.

@Smokescreen38 A pill bug would make a great Insecticon!

You're still disappointed that no one celebrated the anniversary of the Virtual Boy, New Coke, the Edsel and Microsoft Bob aren't you?

They make a new one by putting together different parts of Tigatron, B'Boom, and Cohrada. :p

no, i was hoping that hasbro had acknowledged the outcry from lack of celebration for the Beast Wars 20th anniversary back in 2016 and would try to mitigate that a little by doing something for the Beast machines 20th.

i'm one of those weirdos who happens to enjoy Transformers in most of its permutations. the constant stream of geewun-alikes are going to lead to the death of the brand. the same way the constant jacking off of "A Real American Hero" killed GIJoe. Transformers has survived as long as it has because it's was willing to change.
