This guys looks great, but the sad thing is that I haven't even seen Magnus at a store yet and online retailers somehow haven't stocked him yet. Either way, will be getting both Prime and Magnus- they both really look good and distinct.

Gotta say that I am a little bit let down by this one as one of the coolest aspects of the original toy\'s vehicle mode was the 4 wheels at the front; a shame they didn\'t find a way to make it work (would also help to close that gap)

Never was into Beast Wars, Cybertron, or Energon Transformers. Of course by this time when all of these toys was coming out I was in my 20's I'm sure, so no interest them and I was more fond of the G1 era and design anyway for Transformers.

Final verdict is a pass for me. Looks OK....but not my style or version of Prime.

    Redirecting funds to something else....

Not everything is going to be cartoon/comicbook/boxart colors accurate. There's even warnings on the package that usually say stuff like: "Final colors may vary" or "Final product may vary" as long as I've been alive that's how it's always been.

Big whoop. Paint over it if you hate it is all I can say. ;)

I wanted to love this, I really did, and to be honest I think the designers did the best they could given that they were trying to retool an Ultra Magnus figure into a homage of one of the more unique Primes to date. That said... I dunno, I look at it and IMO it just feels like they were determined to take an idea that was overly ambitious and put it into plastic, come hell or high water. There are more than a few visual compromises in both modes that are kinda hard to overlook... but then again, that's just me. More power to those that love it!

Also; is the weak hip ratchets for the original a Hasbro only issue? I got the Takara Galaxy Convoy release when GF was first airing and the hip ratchets are still as strong as ever.

I guess if that Hound-into-Cybertron-Hot-Shot repaint hinted at by his box art happens, he'll have a friend!

I do wonder if there was a running change with the hip design as some seem to have no issue with the ratchets though I've read and seen others with the same issue, as the cogs slightly move the tooth (on a spring) u and down it seems it gradually wears away the plastic struts housing the tooth until it can literally just wiggle around thus leaving no pressue on the cog so the ratchet becomes ineffective.

I haven't seen the leaders in stores yet, but I DID pre-order them online... back in November when they said they were coming in December. They just keep bumping the date.

I saw him at Walmart like two weeks ago and i was strapped for cash. I got paid and spent this weekend searching all three Walmarts and both Targets in my area and nada of course.

I did see Shockwave however a few times along with Seige Megatron. Only one Seige Optimus in three weeks time however. I passed despite how much i want him in favor of saving cash for Magnus and Armada Op. Not to mention Prowl and a healthy chunk of the rest of the Seige line.

And somehow i have to get the funds to get Trypticon before Omega Supreme drops.

He's not as good looking as the original I'll admit but I still like it. It also looks like a really fun figure and it's homaging my favorite era so I'm very much looking forward to it

I've still yet to see anything of the leaders, aside from the knowledge that a single shipment arrived at my walmart, but someone snuck them right from under me... getting flashbacks of PotP wave 2 here...

After seeing the review, this is exactly what I wanted. From the comments on the boards, it would seem some of the figures I enjoy the most are some of the more maligned toys as a whole. Anyway, as I was watching the review I had a thought, which I see I'm not the only one to have:

Though I may not do the shoulders, but the rest, yep.

Exactly what I want for my neo-classic collection. So this is one of the few Deluxe or larger figures that I actually want and plan on purchasing.
