Well I mean it’s a common trend. MMC has done it for cliffjumper and arcee. Fans hobby even did scourge before G2 Prime.

 

No regular God Bomber first?

Awesome. It is kinda annoying for people who just have normal Power Baser, but since I actually prefer BPB (regular power baser is fine, but honestly, had I known they were doing a black repaint that was definitely getting a godbomber, I would've just waited for the black version instead of getting both each time they were released. FH has definitely gotten a lot of my money), its cool to have a release date for the godbomber for him. And who knows, maybe they're being tricky with the release announcements. Black God Armor's August release date puts it a year after Black Power Baser's release, so maybe that's why they chose August for that one.

But since they just released Double Evil, its not like they have anything else on their plate besides their godbomber, so it seems weird they would have nothing else between now and August. Heh, unless they're planning another Power Baser recolor (who are they, Toyworld with their dozens of Constructor repaints?) But yeah, they seem pretty far along, and its the same design for either color. So who knows, maybe they'll make another announcement later that their normal godbomber will be in May or June or something. This way, they might get a couple of people who are impatient and were on the fence on getting Black Power Baser to buy it in anticipation of Black God Armor.

Interesting that this comes with a new head for BPB, so he'll be the third FH product I've changed the head out on (the first two being Power Baser and Archenemy)

 

Yeah, I have no interest in the grimdark variants.

Dark color first may not necessarily be a bad thing, the standard color can get all the fixes required after the first released.

 

Glad they are doing a Nemesis version. I think this is gonna be amazing. Glad the head is bigger now also, I thought they were gonna leave it

Maybe they’ll surprise us with a May release date for the standard version.

Uhm...I like how the Godbomber armor hides the "belly" of Powerbaser, but I'm worried if the God Ginrai combined mode risks being too much top heavy. The price seems good, thought.

That's a decent price for sure. I didn't even know one could order directly from the Fans Hobby site. Has anyone ordered from them before? Is the shipping and tax worth ordering from them, i.e., Robot Kingdom (good prices but the shipping cost is killer) or is it better to get it from a stateside site?

 

While he looks great in combined, it sorely needs some telescoping thigh extensions

I was thinking something similar to this. Either way I'm hoping this coincides with a reissue of Powerbaser.

 

It’s a lot like Robot Kingdom. Cheap upfront price, then shipping is reasonably fast and thus expensive.

The cockpit appears to have helmet storage for the Headmaster Jr's Transector Helmets, centered above the seating positions. Could this be a hint to a future release of Minerva and the rest of her crew's Transectors/vehicles

 

Considering the color scheme of Black Power Baser (using the dark blue/purple highlights instead of teal), I believe it is technically supposed to represent the "Nucleon Quest" version of Super Convoy instead of Nemesis Prime. An official black/blue recolor toy of the original Takara Super Convoy release was produced in limited quantities back in 2001 as an exclusive for ToysRUs Japan. Nucleon Quest Super Convoy retained the Autobot insignias as opposed to the Decepticon faction markings on modern interpretations of Nemesis Prime. To my knowledge, the Godbomber variant was never officially released with this deco.

That being said; I prefer to think of Black Power Baser as Nemesis Prime, myself. I affixed Decepticon insignias to mine, causing occasional twinges of regret from my inner purist.
