Cold as truck here in my Northwest Indiana Chicago suburb that I call home. Work canceled, kids off school for several days. The only positive is that it's not snowing, so don't have to be outside shoveling and digging out the car. Have had to go outside several times though to try to start the car. Was too cold for it to kick over. Finally midway through the afternoon I got it to start. I let it run for a good ten minutes or so.

While I am happy to not be in work today, I got to deal with the cold while over at work during tomorrow and Friday. And just when the rollercoaster of weather hasn’t gotten weirder, around where I live, it’s gonna be around the 50s from this Sunday to Wednesday or Thursday before doing at least a day or two of mid 30s. One of the local news stations showed that it might even be 60s during one or two of the same days that we’ll be getting warmer than usual weather. Though, we’ll see as it gets closer to this weekend and next week.

    Currently -5, feels like -21.

    Yay.

Tomorrow's supposed to be worse in the early morning. Oh, joy!

Sunday? 49 and occasionally sunny at times. I cannot process this weather. At all.

So here I am from the Midwest USA, currently trapped in a frozen hell that's gotten as cold as -30 degrees. For some insane reason my College is still open for class today, even though every district around us has closed and way too many people can't even get their cars started. I can't even leave the house so I'm just screwed on class attendance this week.

...In the meantime, though, we took in a stray cat whose been living on/under our porch just before this horrible weather hit. No way we could leave her out there in the cold.

In Chicago it's too goddamn cold outside. The worst part is our thermostat stopped working and the whole house was cold. We brought it later on, but the damage already been done. We tried desperately to bring the house too a normal temperature, but all is fine today albeit the hallways are cold.

Best part is we didn't have school yesterday or today. Hopefully we can stay home tomarrow.

I'll give anyone a dollar to lick that ice.

On a serious note, we are dog sitting for a neighbor while they work. Her name is Coffee and her 4 pups are named after the 4 characters of the old kids show The Banana Splits Show. All 5 are on a heating blanket.

Well, it's clean water, so it's not like they'll die or anything.

True but the idea of what that water is used for could gross out somebody.

It used to. Especially the episode of Seinfeld where the woman was washing her hair with the water. Today, though, there's a sink apparatus you can buy to replace the tank lid. When you flush the toilet, the spigot produces water so you can wash your hands and save money and resources. It's all going to become gray or black water, anyhow, so this does double the duty in the same amount of water. Pretty neat idea.

Gotta be cold, though. Like horribly cold. Ugh.

The one week I go on a business trip to Michigan is the one week where they have record low temperatures. How about that luck?

Cold night. Wearing sweat pants. Wearing a sweater. Using 2 blankets. Heater on full blast.

Suppose to be raining on Saturday here in OKC and if it is cold...

... maybe the water in my toilet tank will freeze too.

I kinda find it funny that there was news recently of a town from Michigan called Hell dealing with the cold because as soon that I saw them talking about their freezing temperatures, I knew that people would be saying the phrase “Hell Has Frozen Over” and similar phrases.

    Hell (MI) has frozen over
