It's almost like they've been doing that for 30 years and they're a company.

 

To be fair, with the exception of Cogman (which isn't accurate full stop), all the TLK repaint so far have been exclusives, not part of the main waves, despite them still being numbered.

It's not lazy; it's not like they come into the office and just say 'I can't be arsed to design a new mould today, let's pick something to paint'. Repaint are accounted for when moulds are budgeted for; if every figure was a new unique mould they'd cost even more than they already do.

Yeah it's a shame. Hasbro wanted Drift to be in AOE and Bugatti approached Bay about having the Veyeron in the movie, so that's how that ended up happening. And then it seems in TLK they were just taking advantage of the partnership with Daimler, given all the Mercedes and Western Stars in the movie. It's a pity they didn't go with a Nissan or something as Hasbro and TT have made recent licensed figures, but I guess if a partner offers cars they'll go with that rather than trying to negotiate with another company.

 

None of the cars in Bay ever did.
Considering the fact his movies are essentially $200 million advertisements for Hasbro, GM, and companies willing to give him the M-word, I’m sure a pack of colourful 6-figure dollar supercars aren’t exactly “robots in disguise”.

True, but then a bunch of hatchbacks and sedans wouldn't have much visual impact, and its not like most of the original Diaclone cars were everyday vehicles. I just see it as movie-land where everything's bigger, bolder, sexier and cooler than real life.

 

Except for the certain incredibly lame and stupid natures that lurk in the bayverse but yeah I’d agree.

 

I cancelled the Pre-ordered because there was no reviews yet and really didn't know what was different other than paint and the baby Dinos. Now I need to pre-order it again. I had all versions of Drift, but this one tops them all!
now if we could Crosshairs re-tooled and the rest of the Dinobots for the SS lineup!

Is this set like Battle-Damaged Megatron in that it's an exclusive, we're just not sure who it's for? Will it just mysteriously show up on online stores like Megatron did?

I really will need the Transformers Community's help in deciding if I want this one or not. I love the improved color scheme, but in the end it is still just a repaint.

I heard there was supposedly another Drift coming further down the Studio Series line, but we still don't know if that will be AOE or TLK. I'm honestly more fond of his TLK appearance.

 

Dude it’s your choice. If you like it go ahead. The only opinion you need if your own. There’s plenty of people that will say it’s a piece of shit and plenty that will say it’s awesome.

At the end of the day the only person who’s gonna hold it your hand in your life is you.

 

Well, its your favorite version of the character with the best paint job he'll likely get with this mold. On top of that, this comes with the mini-dinobots; the only figures in existence of three canon characters to the movie-verse lore. Even if Drift is released later, it'll likely just be this figure again since Hasbro probably doesn't have the rights to the Bughatti Veyron anymore. I don't see anything to lose in getting this: You get Drift in his best looking paint-job yet, and three other characters to go with him.

 

Rumors are there is a separate Drift coming from AOE, but it’s the helicopter form. Either a new mold or remold of Dropkick.

Man, I am dying to know what Hightower is going to look like. I know there is concept art from ROTF, and the Legends Devastator, but I'm curious how well executed a larger design will be.

 

Seems like there's an increase in redecos of old molds in this line. But since I never got the original I'm still up for this one and the baby dinos are a nice bonus.
