Meanwhile many are wondering why people still think this game is based soley off strict g1 versions when it's been clear they're doing IDW, Legends, and various other most recent themes from the get-go.

So how is this game? I bought the started set, a few packs and Metroplex on Black Friday but never got around to playing it. I'd probably just play versus myself since I don't know anyone really who'd be into it.

And also, I'm not gonna quit the game over this. I have a full collection of Wave 1, I'll get a full collection of Wave 2, and since these are commons, probably a shit ton of Menasors. But I'm gonna complain. Until these new characters get backstories as in-depth as the Budiansky ones, there's no way Off-Road, Alpha Bravo, Rook, or Brown Slingshot are going to be as developed as the teammates they're replacing. It's fine to like them, but I think people should admit that they tend to like the newcomers at least partially out of a sense of contrarianism and schadenfreude at seeing the older fans poopooing them.

 

I know Wildrider basically left and was replaced but I felt the need to say that.

 

Hopefully this keeps a trend of Common Combiners going for the others. Doubtful, but a boy can dream.

 

Do we know how Combiners are being packed? Like, am I gonna end up with everyone's right leg, or ten complete sets of the common one?

 

They’re gonna be normal character cards. So 1 per pack. You’re gonna have to crack a bunch of packs or buy a set from someone else. Thankfully the Stunticons are all commons, so they will be plentiful.

That offroad's head is just full teal color instead of black.

I\'m assuming that Superion will have Slingshot replaced with Alpha Bravo.

 

Even if Blackjack is not part of the combiner, they could still give him a character card and label him a Stunticon. Maybe something that is weak by itself but helps speed the deck.
I don't know a lot of how the game works, but I suppose you could make him a weak character that searches the deck for a Decepticon car when destroyed. That would not only help a Menasor deck, but also could be useful in a future Sports Car Patrol deck.

 

It would have been cool to name him the Enigma card that causes combination

 

Like make him a utility that only Stunticons or Menasor can equip? Hmm ...

I would like to see the alternates available as an option, Don't need to have a crazy bonus, but having Wildrider could be a bonus to 1 stat, and a detriment to another. used as a balancing tool per combiner. So if menasor sucks, the alternate wildrider is used to equalize, etc.

 

OK first there's the issue with the colors not matching now this? Offroad isn't even connected properly when you put the cards together.



This still doesn't look quite right but I think the hood is like that because of the way it transforms for leg mode. At least now the two parts of that front tire actually line up but now the text is broken up. They really screwed up on the art work here, this would be a lot more awesome if the image actually lined up properly.



It's not perfect because I quickly threw this together. However here everything actually lines up the way it's suppose to. I found the original image that they used for the card art, had to shrink it down to fit the cards and then just kinda sloppily erased the excess, cloned the background to cover where Offroad was originally positioned, and blurred the lines between Menasor and the background to try and cover the sloppy job I did. The original Menasor image didn't have the background it was just the robot on a plane black background hence the need to also remove the original Offroad in the background. Not only did this put Offroad in the correct position but since I used the original image they're now all color matched as well. No more multicolored ugly hues over each card making the combined image look like it's not meant to go together.
