I guess you haven't seen or don't know about Peru Kill or Challenger. They look sleek, no backpack and they can transform. So it is possible.

    Carry on now.

After looking at the Megatron photos more, I think I've pinned down what makes the design so... something. The basic fact of the matter is that 07 Megs was not designed as a character; he was designed as a walking nightmare.

It's unfortunate in some regards that he wasn't approached with more depth in mind; IDW, Animated, and even Prime really show the potential in treating him as more than just an Evil Robot Of Evil. At the same time, though, it really is a perfect design for the 07 movie, where the focus was on the humans discovering the Cybertronians and their war for the first time, (problem was the sequels continued to be about the humans first and foremost, but still) that Megatron would come across more as a terrifying force of nature than anything else, and I think the design captures that quite well. Robot mode, as I've mentioned before, reminds me of some sort of robotic Yeti, (fitting for the so-called Iceman) and an absurdly shredded one at that; even his muscles have muscles. Meanwhile, his alt-mode, while vaguely recognizable as a jet, is aggressively alien looking, and a little bit Capital-A Alien too, there's a touch of Giger to be found there. Put together, what the two communicate is that he is not human, and he is very very much not friendly.

For their many other drawbacks, I do like that TLK and especially DotM actually tried to treat him more as a character in his own right, and to a certain degree the design evolved to follow that, but it was still too little too late. But while not as faithful to his original look as I would like, I do think the 07 design works for the role he played there. I do hope that the Knightverse takes a much more nuanced and developed angle on the character, but will still take at least a few cues from this in also making him a suitably intimidating badass, whose mere arrival shifts the tide of war against the Autobots.

Now that we have our derpy Sam figurine with Jazz, I'm half expecting Takara to re-release Prime with a figurine of Simmons with his pants down.

That's only gonna come way later down the line. I really hope we get official pictures, cause as it stands, with how this megatron looks overall really mushy and bland, I really hope there are some official pictures that'll rectify this problem. Plus, Unique toy's tlk megatron is looking really tempting now that this guy has turned out to be an absolute mess. Jazz looks amazing, and I'm happy for those that got what they wanted. The split in half gimmick is cool, but since the mpm line has a track record of shit qc, I understand the concern, but since I'm not buying it, I don't feel like I should have a say in this.

Imma sound like a weirdo but, even though UT's Megatron looks amazing in its own, i just don't like the design overrall, i even dig more this Megs as it looks to be more fun to use. (from what i see)
If there's a Megatron i'm intrigued to see, it's the Bumblebee version.

Yeah, I like this design cause of the intimidating, almost monster like presence that it brings. Although, I'm not exactly interested in the bee movie megs, cause he's most likely just g1 megs with additional greebly bits added on, just like the other designs. The 2007 megatron design was one my my favorites because of how it represented megatron as almost an unstoppable force in a sense, but this figure doesn't exactly represent that

Megatron is going to look pretty massive with my studio series line. It's probably the best we can get with 2007 Megatron.

You’re a damn fool if you think Peru looks anything like lockdown. He’s a mess. The SS looks more accurate.

So how big/tall would mpm jazz be? Would it be fair to say he's about the size of a hastak voyager? I don't have a single MP styled figure in my collection, but I'm definitely interested in him. Just hoping he's not too big for what I'm after...

Okay, Jazz splitting in half is pretty awesome. Damn it, the Studio Series is the best thing Hasbro is doing in TFs.

I apologize if my post came across too harsh. It was overly sassy and very disrespectful to my fellow fans. I'm sorry.

I have seen Peru Kill and Challenger and both are incredibly impressive. The designer behind those figures is most definitely smarter than me and should teach HasTak a think or two.

I think we can agree though that those figures are exceptions to the rule and that even they have some compromises. Certainly not to the degree that other MPMs have but no figure that transforms will ever be perfect.

The official mpm prime has plenty of issues, hence why I sold mine in favor of the superior, better painted, cheaper Legendary Toys LT-02. Will also be waiting on a better KO of Ironhide, given the issues I've heard about so far. I'd love for these to be great fron the start but I'm not gonna be a sheep and blindy trust that they'll be awesome out of the gate. Will do what I always do, wait for reviews, feedback from the 1st people that get them, then decide for myself. The QC is plenty relevant. Fingers crossed that they got it right though.

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. I say that with confidence as an owner of Peru Kill. The only concession I will grant is that his hands are more spindly than I'd like, but he is otherwise perfect. It's engineering magic that the Lambo almost completely disappears during conversion.

The SS version of Lockdown is far too kibbly and backpacky to say with a straight face that it is better than Peru Kill. It's better than AoE deluxe Lockdown is what it is, that's all.

Maybe the 2007 deluxe jazz will give you an idea.
