Jazz is looking great! besides the bulky looking back and door panels on his shoulders at least. Megatron is also looking a lot better than what I was expecting and he is huge! Definitely getting Jazz but Megatron will be tempting.

 

I often find the toy designs help me to accept movie designs I wasn't initially fond of.

Not for Megatron here though. That design was and is one of their worst. They had access to the best designers in the world and this is what they came up with? Such a shapeless lump of unreadable busyness.

There has never been any kind of amazing or fun figure based on this design, and it would seem that will remain the case. The MP looks like the uninspired work of a talented professional, just rushing through the job trying to get it done so they can move onto something better. It would be hard not to improve on the previous figures, but even still it just about meets the minimum criteria for the line.

Jazz on the other hand is a design that has aged really well and is among the better screen translations of TF characters to come out of the whole decade. Previous figures were all pretty competent, so there's not as much room for improvement but they seem to have done an acceptable job.

The question is, will the QC be more like Bumblebee and Barricade or more like Prime and Ironhide?

I've been waiting for a good Jazz figure my entire life it feels like. Could care less about the splitting things since it's suppose to be a gimmick. Just as long as it doesn't interfere to much. Will definitely be picking up 2 of these when it releases. Oh and Megs isn't half bad either, he just need more paint

 

Same here. But I'll give him the fact that this is not the rule.

Had no issues with MPM 3 and 5. As for 6 and 4 i spend the Takara dollars with the expected results.

I think that the MPM carbots are pretty solid, but for the big ones, i trust TT. So i think that this will be the case here.

Hope that TT MPM Megs costs no more than 200, otherwise it won't get trough Customs here.

IIRC though MPM4 had issues even with the Takara version despite Takara having the correct deco. It's certainly a valid concern regardless though.

 

Do we know something about how tall Megatron is? in cm approximately?
The release date and price?

 

Can confirm as a former owner of Takara MPM-4 that he also had all sorts of tabbing issues and I had to do all of the tab-trimming fixes that people came up with to get both of his modes working properly.

I hope neither of these guys have issues to that level but I think Ironhide shows that they’re still not treating this line with the care it deserves. Of course, all of the carbots have been fine in my experience, so I’m not worried about Jazz. Maybe Megatron will buck the trend of big MPMs having bad QC, or maybe he’ll have his own host of problems.

No one's asking you to like it, of course it's fine if you don't. The point is that Masterpiece toys have had gimmicks since literally MP-01, we're over forty Masterpieces toys in right now, and Takara's track record shows they only include gimmicks that don't detract from the main toy. The point is if you're complaining about gimmicks in MP toys, you're a little over a decade late on that.

 

They both look great. I am definitely getting Jazz since he's my favorite Autobot and I actually like his movie design.

 

Jazz looks good, and thankfully far more accurate than that human alliance one. Quite tempting.
