I don’t know the Bay movies felt like a unintentional parody of macho. Some of the characters felt like telephone tough guys/keyboard warriors’ idea of tough. That loud over the top and in your face macho that starts a bar fight, but while people are fighting each other the guy sneaks out the back leaving behind the chaos he caused.

As for Bumblebee 2 I would like to see a heeping helping of cameos of other G1 Transforners showing up, with Optimus playing a supporting role.

Look, the point is that these are my opinions and I have every right to them, and it in no way makes me a "god". One person's trash is another's treasure, and I'm allowed that, just as you are (and you've even said that - see below). I only took issue with you because you flew in here with name calling and you started attacking others because they disagreed with you (also see below). And the last time I checked, it's okay to not agree with someone, especially over fucking movies.

I'm pretty certain that you enjoy ROTF, DOTM, AOE and TLK just fine. No one is coming into your home and taking away your Bayverse Blu-Rays/DVD's or berating you when you watch them. Enjoy them!

At no point did anyone claim to be a "Movie God". No. People disagreed with you, because they do not agree with your opinions. By your own logic, that should be okay (I mean, you just called out a bunch of classic, critically acclaimed and successful movies as "turds" as your opinion - It's right there!). I would even dare to say that you are the one who is not being open minded here. We have given you plenty of legitimate reasons as to why we did not like/grew tired of Michael Bay's Transformers movies. Those are our opinions, just as your reasons for liking the Bay movies are opinions. If you're gonna dish it out, you gotta be able to take it.

Perhaps I was a bit rash there. I apologize for that.

Do you mean because movies have become "less Misogynist"? I'm very curious as to what you actually mean here. Because I'm thinking that maybe movies are "less macho" because people are learning that this world and living in it is more complex than was once thought and is becoming more progressive.

    Pretty much.

All I could say is different people like different things. But one thing I dont buy into is the term "critically acclaimed". A professional movie critic is just another human being with an opinion. Their popularity doesnt make their opinion any more important than than Joe the plumbers opinion. Thats my opinion.

Transformers was doing okay before the Bay movies. Thing is, the 1st live action movie took Hasbro by surprise because it far exceeded their expectations. Since then they've been trying to replicate that success since to varying results. They've also recognized that it's time for a change.

Bayverse fans shouldn't be mad. You had 10 years of those movies. The last 2 weren't as well received as the 1st 3(or 1st movie for that matter) hence the change in direction. And while those movies appealed to an older audience, they aren't Hasbro's main target demographic. In addition, they weren't entirely happy with how some characters turned out.

With Bumblebee, Hasbro has a new media tie in they've aimed at their target demographic and with a change in direction that can span years. Since the movie wasn't dumbed down and I found it enjoyable, I don't mind this change.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Hope they can pull off another solid movie.

Well, I have yet to see the movie, so I don't know if I'll like it or if it deserve deserves a sequel, but of it really turns out we are getting s Bumblebee 2, I can't help but being worried at the thought that the franchise could become even more Bumblebee-centric.

Nah I liked the idea of the soldiers running in to any battle along with Sam being fairly courageous in multiple situations. The Autobots were really macho too, Jazz going out guns blazing facing down Megatron was hardcore.

Sure but that’s like the bare bones we are talking about here. Jazz will ALWAYS go in guns blazing, this is not a Bay Jazz specific trait, plus doesn’t he get taken out like a punk getting swooped up and ripped in half only to be replaced in the sequels by two idiotic racist stereotypes that make me want to cringe. To the contrary to a certain robot character from Bumblebee who goes out like a real soldier (I mean literally just like a real POW would respond).

Sam along with EVERY human character from Spike to Charlie are courageous, but Sam was super entitled (“I want to matter” go serve your country! There is like 450 different ways you can do that!!!) and annoying (he was so goofy and complained about everything).

The soldiers they are pretty standard stereotypes, on the other hand Barnes from Bumblebee was tough, funny, and actually develops throughout the movie a pretty macho guy with some depth (at least as much depth you can get from a 2 hour action movie).

The Bay movies just feel like movies made by someone who has a warped perception of what macho, heroic, sacrifice and working in the service of others is. I used to think well the fight scenes were pretty cool, but after seeing Bumblebee and watching the robots actually, you know, know how to fight, I am not so sure.

To sum it up Bumblebee felt like a fun hero movie if the hero was the underdog and the Bay movies felt like if someone saw Team America and took it seriously.

Now to be fair, I don’t think everything was bad about the Bay movies and I am very grateful for what it contributed to the Transformers brand (and make no mistake it contributed a lot), but Bay is Both Burton and Schumacher while Knight is Nolen.

I am interested in a movie about whoever took over after they lost contact with Megatron, and made the Autobots escape off-planet.

Human nature will make it quite difficult... But there is hope!

I personally don't like the Cybertron designs too much (not "realistic" enough for me), but that didn't spoil my enjoyment of the Bumblebee movie.

Shatter and Dropkick designs were badass though!

Alright everyone, let's keep this on target and talk about Bumblebee 2, instead of derailing this thread with a bunch of dumb nonsense. If you're not excited for a sequel, that's perfectly fine, but state it respectfully instead of being rude. There's no need for that.

That said, I'm super stoked for more from this version of Bumblebee. I hope that Knight comes back, but I'm sure there are also plenty of other great directors who could make a great movie with these characters. Personally, I hope it's set in the mid 90's.

    Jeez...
Not so fast now. I feel Bumblebee should just be a standalone movie. It wasn't bad but what else can we do with the character? I wanna see that cybertron movie though.

    I’m excited.

Though I feel Bumblebee suffers from being overrated in the same way that I feel Black Panther does, it definitely had more substance then the Bay movies before it(most of which were just pure noise).

Move aside the focus on Bee, give us more focus on the Transformers team has a whole and rechristen it a “Transformers” title.

And I’m in favor of a journey through the decades as well.

I think the "Bumblebee 2" is just a way to indicate that they are continuing with these movies. @Music did a pretty good job of clarifying this a couple pages back:
