Well heck, now I'm completely confused as to what's going on (as is everyone else, it seems). ShowZ only got the cartoon version of Windcharger/Boost anyway (and sold out), so I guess I'll have to go to another retailer anyway.

That "ComiToon" version looks perfect but for all we know, that could just be the new cartoon version... or not? Probably not, because BBTS also has the cartoon version listed separately...
Please please please clarify for us, @ibot! I don't want to accidentally buy the wrong version.

I can't wait to see what the mould improvements are though. I held off because of the issues, so I'm keen to see just what has been improved. I'll likely buy them regardless this time, though.

Well, I thought more people would care about this ComiToon version, but whatever, I’m happy af! I never bought a Boost, only “Cartoon” Hatch(cause I thought the toon was gonna have turquoise instead of navy, but it didn’t), and I always held off on Boost in hope that they’d make this version, and they finally did, 3 years later!

I’m also kinda tempted to finally get a “Toy” Hatch with the silver legs, and then make the “Toon” a KITT just like Decepticon13 was saying.

 

I cancelled my toon version and went with the ComiToon version. Still wish I knew what the hell I'm even ordering at this point...

 

Nope, doesnt seem like it, TFS Express also has this guy for Preorder , apparently due in February (which id say means march, after CNY) so yeah..

 

MAN why didn't X transbots show this ealier ... And yeah there are definitely 3 versions now because both BBTS and TFS have 3 separate listings for boost. So basically if you want something that is closer to the colours in the initial renders, comitoon is the way to go! And now im annoyed cus they announced this so late, my toon Boost is already on his way to me, and I definitely prefer the Comitoon the best so I am gonna have to order that aswell and then sell my other one ( hopefully I can )

 

Well, toy version it is. If only because most of the collection is more toy-like than toon like (I scored Red Alert + on sale, so he's the outlier, and no one really notices).

 

Only available at a few places only, I found a Taobao shop has it and ordered from them immediately, most of the other shop don't even know the existent of the comictoon color while they are carrying reissue of the other 2 colors.

 

My cartoon version arrived today (in UK, from TFS, usual great service).

Not a great Transformer. Now I have him, I guess he fills a space on the shelf, but jeez the transformation is a travesty. Everything feels like it’s about to break, nothing really tabs together... this is definitely a figure that demonstrates how far 3P (specifically XTB) has come.

Specifically, I dislike,
- the shoulders
- the chest tabbing to the body
- the backpack
- the forearms
- the knees
- the feet, OMG those feet....... just imagine FansToys Springer’s lower legs to be a naff cover band inspired by (but not in the same league as) these bad boys. I don’t believe manipulating them will ever be ‘ok with practice’.

To be fair, the face sculpt is really good, and he has a nice presence - as long as you’re over the PTSD inflicted by the transformation.

I doubt I’ll sell him, only because that necessitates a return to alt mode

 

To be fair, this is an old toy, like 2 years ago and not indicative of their current offerings. People just kept bitching it to be rereleased, they could have demanded a Ver2.0 redo instead.

I'm confused as well. What exactly is this "ComiToon" version of Boost supposed to represent? What part of the toon or comic inspired this?
It just looks like the toy version with no so darkened windows.
I also want to know why there isn't a "ComiToon" version of Hatch.

XTB/KFC is coming out of left field with all these strange barely noticeable repaints of older figures:

1. "Orange" '86 Movie Transistor
2. "Metallic" Dumpyard
3. "ComiToon" Boost


Someone explain this to me.

 

For ComiToon Boost, most people in this thread agreed that xtb got the chest colors wrong for both the Toon and Toy versions(starting at around page 126), so ComiToon is probably just some made up name to put out a corrected color, to better match the cartoon.
