Until I've got my own place with enough shelving, got to keeps. MPs get to keep their boxes.

I don't keep retail boxes just their cards. So far I have all my 3p/MP boxes. I guess I need to buy more stuff.

Oh oh, I photo-archive all the boxes too! It's something that I've been doing for a while now and the beautiful thing is that some companies do reach out to me for these photos. You can sometimes find them on the retailers' websites and even Taobao LOL.

    Here are some examples

Oh, and I do that for the File Cards too.

I’ve kept all of my 3rd party boxes in case I ever want to sell them. But I’m starting to have second thoughts about that strategy. I’ve kept my masterpiece boxes for anything smaller than a seeker. Prime, Grimlock, Soundwave, Ultra Magnus and the seekers all had their boxes 86’d. Anything main line/retail goes right in the trash.

It's bin night tonight, and in that bin go the dozen or so Magic Square and Pocket Toys boxes that arrived recently...

I've been keeping MP and 3P boxes, and exclusives (Tokyo Toy Show figs, for instance). But I'm also keeping my collection very small and selling off a lot of it. So it hasn't been an issue for me.

For my gen/classics figures, I was only keeping the boxes when I bought Takara figs (on the assumption that other collectors might pay more for them if they were complete with boxes), but with Legends I wound up with... a lot of boxes. I decided I wouldn't be keeping those and eventually decided to just sell off most of them anyways.

I don't like having a gigantic collection that I can't easily display and parse out visually - at one point a friend told me my shelves looked like the overcrowded group shot in an anime show's opening credits, and I decided I had too many on the shelves. I also don't see the point in having figures and keeping them in boxes piled up and locked away.

I couldn't imagine ever keeping the boxes for some of the collections I've seen people post. When you have enough figures to fill floor-to-ceiling shelves on 3 walls and floating display cases, you need a whole basement for boxes.

My only regret is pitching my MP36 box. Now that I upgraded him with the IT-01, I want to get rid of him. Unfortunately, people want the box too.

I keep all my boxes and cards/bubbles. I already rent a storage unit for various house junk I don't need year-round that I don't want to be subjected to summer heat in the attic (holiday decorations and whatnot) so I keep them in there in large boxes stacked around 8 feet high. That way if I sell anything they still have all their packaging. (As a side note, check my sales thread! I have more things I want to list at some point but haven't gotten around to sorting the photos yet.)
