Yikes. It's leaps and bounds better than the last 4 but really was still kind of a mess. And c'mon, why the hell did the first hummer have a giant harpoon equipped for a combat simulation? So many plot holes and unnecessary scenes. Better, but still not good.
The opening was going to be more of a prequel than the rebooish film we got at the end. Originally, Bumblebee was going to be present on Earth on the run from the humans which explains why S7 was well equipt. So the film just started off with the part where John Cena and his crew were going after Bumblebee. They reshot the film to include the scene where Bumblebee lands on Earth. There is so much you can reshoot before going over the budget.
I dunno. "Oh that thing has more weaponry than it should probably have" feels like a weird complaint to have in a movie about a franchise whose entire focus is on aliens with very specific and unprobably traits that make sense only when you explain "well they're like that because they're advertising a toyline''. By design the film already asks out of you an open mind when it comes to inherent cartoony concepts, and military hummers having a god damn harpoon feels about that level of cartoony to me. I mean the Decepticons create the internet, even though the Internet already existed by that point in time thanks to experiments the Military itself already had a hand in, so there's another harmless-plothole that I also think ranges around that same level of cartoony fun.
I finally got around to seeing it last night. It was spectacular. I loved the Cybertron scenes. The only thing that bothered me is the cliff jumper scene.
My biggest question is: Why does this thread exist when there are already discussion threads pertaining to this exact subject in this forum already? EDIT: Because those questions that have been asked in the OP could've been answered by the content in those threads.
That was an unforgivably specific bit of giant robot wrangling weaponry to just be conveniently included with an armload of paintball guns. It was the first red flag to let me know the movie was going to be full of dumb coincidences in the service of moving the plot forward. Bigger yet, why would you respond?
I respect your opinion but I disagree, Bumblebee is centuries beyond anything Bay’s ever made and a beautiful film overall
It's the shortest TF movie by some way so it trimmed down on 'unnecessary scenes' significantly. As for the movie being a 'mess' and 'not good' it would seem your take on this movie is an exception to the general view that this a very good film.
What bothered me more was that Bee just coincidentally landed right in the middle of Sector 7 training exercises. Also, how far did he stumble along to find that campground? I wouldn't think people would be allowed to camp near an area where the military performs training exercises. Ah well, minor things... I still enjoyed the movie quite a bit.
About Bee's landing; Perhaps just a coincidence as he may have targeted the forest thinking no one were there. And it's not easy to change direction on those. About the camping; It weren't a campsite, it was a mine.
Nah, the harpoons weren't actualy used in any point as part of the story, so it would be silly to say they were just there to move the plot along. It made no difference if they were firing at him with harpoons that don't kill him or with bullets that also didn't kill him. Like that posted said those were leftovers from an original version of the film that started with Bee already being hunted instead of showing his landing at the same time. The harpoons were, at best, a dumb action thing, but at no point the movie used them as a hard plot point that added to contrived story telling, again, it was on the same level of cartoony as a robot that turns into a car and is also an alien warrior. I can roll with that. Furthermore this is the second time you bring up the "why would training trucks have those weapons?!" but I don't recall the movie stating that the jeeps that arrive are any form of training gear? As far as we know the jeeps came from a nearby base and they're having the exercise near their own base or whatever. Again it's the kind of thing that the movie just doesn't go into alot of detail into because it doesn't matter for the overall audience and story it's going for because it's a cartoony movie for families. There is a reason that this film has alien robots speaking english with no explanation on why they speak english in direct contrast with the original Michael Bay film that felt the need to have alien speak and explanation for the reason the other robots spoke english.
If you're going to respond in such a manner that tells me you know you did wrong but when called out on it, you're just going to double down. I responded to make it clear this thread doesn't need to exist and you can get your answers in the other threads. It's also an open discussion forum and I'm allowed to respond. You don't want posts like mine? Don't post threads like this. This is a board for everyone, not just you. The rules are for everyone and you're supposed to follow them as well. Nothing makes you special when no one here is. *shrugs* (I know you asked yesterday, this is the first time I've gotten a chance to actually sit down and answer it.)
Maybe for... combat simulations? We have no idea what kind of training is done at that base. It's already a fictitious Military group, the harpoon could have been for grapple training. TBF, we don't know how long he was limping away for. He made it to a lake and I don't remember there being a body of water near the base, so he couldn't spent hours limping before reaching the shore. See, these things are not plot holes. They're simply things that are not explained because they don't need to be explained. A plot hole is when the movie contradicts itself and makes errors in continuity or logic as it is presented by the film. See, a plot hole to me is how Blitzwing was already on Earth tracking Bumblebee mere minutes after he crash lands, when Shatter and Dropkick didn't know where he was until the signal came out. Yet even that can be sort of explained as Blitzwing just followed him right after he left, and Shatter/Dropkick were following Cliffjumper and thus had no idea what Blitzwing was up to on his own mission since they were handling their own.
As the one above me said; We do not know how long he was limping, it could have been hours away for what we know. It did look far away from where the mine and the training was.
Hey everyone having adult conversations about odd points in the movie in this thread, TFXProtector says we are messing up his forums that are for everyone. As for the actual conversation, Bee does get harpooned right away. I understand if they intended S7 to be more established, then it would make sense. I think BB tends to get a free pass simply because how terrible the Bayverse movies were. Here's hoping the upward curve continues and this is just an awkward first step.
