I was irritated that Slingshot wasn't a regular release, and didn't want to spend $100+ on a single deluxe scale figure so I snagged a Combiner Wars G2 Blast Off and made my own... Even more irritating was the fact that the Unite Warriors Superion box set, which included Slingshot, popped up for sale again at a more reasonable price point like two weeks after I finished this project. I'm thinking about grabbing the 3D printed Rolls-Royce grill from Shapeways for this custom.

 

Really well done! I also am aggravated that this figure wasn't widely released and may also eventually repaint Blast Off, too. Did u use gold foil for the eyes or how does it look like gold chrome?

 

Exclusives are why I quit collecting 25th style GI Joes...so far I've had luck getting what I've been after with Transformers, but exclusives are still irritatingly overpriced in a lot of cases.
I just used that 24k gold spray paint from Wal-Mart.

No, I thought about doing it, and then I preordered that Unite Warriors set after I saw it pop up at a more reasonable price than it initially went for...I may repurpose my existing Hasbro Aerialbots (not Alpha Bravo, though) for other customs if I don't paint them up in cartoon colors and still get that grill for Slingshot in either case.

I picked up Slingshot but skipped Wildrider. I recently picked up the Unite Warriors Menasor for $111.00 because it was a lot cheaper than trying to get the Hasbro versions separately.

Collecting the Prime Wars trilogy has been a major pain in the ass. So many exclusive combiner limbs (Botcon, TFCC etc.) that I will NEVER be able to own. Plus Devastator & Predaking are too fucking huge. And the headmasters that never got bodies, Apeface, Squeezeplay, Swoop, Brawn, Grimlock etc. Plus the Japanese exclusives, Grand Maximus, Optimus Primal, Grand Scourge & Nemesis Prime. I'll never be able to own most of them. "Collect them all" and then Hasbro/Takara makes it impossible to collect them all. That combined with another price hike for 2019 & I'm done collecting. Not gonna bother going past the Prime Wars Trilogy. I might pick up a couple Siege figures like Soundwave & Starscream but I'm not collecting the entire line anymore. Just going to cherry pick.

 

I had a similar situation cause me to stop collecting GI Joes ($50+ for single carded joes...do they not realize that most people have to work for a living?)...I'm also annoyed at the intentional difficulty they (Hasbro specifically) put into collecting figures; on a side not I quit even looking at the collector's club after seeing their pricing (NO THANKS, I'll do my own repaints). The 2019 price hike, plus the down-scaling of the line are pretty much making me cherry pick too...I'm really only interested in the 3 Weaponzers they have announced so far, Cog (I already snagged), Sixgun, and Brunt...I may try to snag 3 reflector figures (it should have just been a 3 pack in a leader scale box/price point), and the Tetrajet Seekers if they manage to give us the whole Trine...I imagine they will make Rainmakers out of them and offer them in limited quantity on Amazon, but you'll have to pay for a Prime account to order them, or some nonsense hoop-jumping requirements of the like.

 

I managed to get Wildrider for $25 on eBay, but Slingshot was already over $100 at that point...I have the Unite Warriors Superion on preorder for February now though, so I'm not as irritated at missing out on it the first time around. Now I have 4 other Aerialbots I can either cartoon-up, or make into random unreleased Seekers for that Starscream from PotP.

 

Wow, that's great! i found my slingshot in a touristy collectors shop during a visit to Macau for only about $30 USD it was kinda weird but it was real and brand new. In the same shop i also somehow found Tf Generations stuff, Plus i bought LG-58 but for some reason Fastlane had two of the same fists, a weird place indeed.
