For what it's worth, I used an eraser to remove the tampos from 12+ and Ironhide, with no damage to the paint underneath. But the paint on both 17+ and Ratchet wore away a little bit with the exact same technique. Maybe I should've tried a tiny bit of isopropyl instead. Need to get some white-backed insignia for the both of them, that way it won't be visible.

I know @OptimusTimelord used it to remove insignia from MP-36 and MP-39, and I think managed to do so with no damage to the paint underneath. Definitely something to go easy with, though.

I'm referring to this, when you have to buy from a non-AJ source.

Yeah it varies depending on type of paint, thickness, gloss finish etc. Sunstreaker's came off easily, Megatron took more effort (therefore more risk of thinning/removing some of the paint beneath), and Skywarp's wing insignias came off but added a bit of a shine to the matte finish (maybe that was just a 'polishing' effect from all the rubbing). I can't speak for Prowl cos I don't own this version!

Opened my copy as a gift just last night and pretty happy with mine. Paint looks decent enough but changing to bot mode showed a lot of tightness that caused some concern.

If anyone’s still looking for this guy I’m selling mine, link in my signature. Nice figure but not for me. When I opened my Prowl+ I found that I prefer the original deco.

Anyone knows if the batch of MP Prowl+ that has the Hasbro cover slider has better executed Paint applications than the first barches available at robot Kingdom?

I'd imagine that they all came from the same factory run, and they simply vary by the packaging that they came in.

Is there anyone out there that doesn't keep their cards? When I went back to ShowZ about my missing card they said to take a picture, and I responded with of what? Haven't heard back since.

Wait a sec. This interests me. You say that you removed paint scratches with an eraser? Please elaborate. My Clampdown has a gash on his car hood. I was contemplating getting repros to cover that, but If it can be fixed or at least minimised to not horrible levels....

How to say this now....Didnt the removed insignia leave a 'shadow' of shorts?

EDIT: Just realised I am quoting posts a month old...fail....

The plastic eraser trick works on some paint scratches. That said, it doesn't work on ALL paint scratches. In my experience, it works the best when there is mark deposited on a surface that isn't supposed to have the marking substances in the first place. For example, if you bonk part of Sideswipe's red arm against Prowl's foot, and you leave a red mark on Prowl, or white mark on Sideswipe. Going at that withe plastic eraser will remove the mark from either figure.

What it doesn't do is flatten out or polish out deep scratches that are IN the surface. Say you drop Sideswipe off of a low shelf, and he clatters off of the stuff on your table blow. Egads, he's got a deep gouge in his leg! The eraser will take the black paint that's around the gouge, but it won't flatten the gouge out, or smooth the surface out.

The problem with plastic (unlike a car's clear coat) is that it's hard to figure out whether the scratch can be taken out, and how much of it can be taken out. (With clear coat, it's relatively easy to tell). However, give it a try. I'm often surprised on what it works on, and I've saved myself a lot of repaints and whatnot with this.

Hm...The scratch came to be when I transformed him above a wooden desk. The desk is painted and as far as I remember the scratch was 'brownish'. But its been at least a year since then.....Ill try it for sure and see what happens.

Definitely try, because it sounds like this might be a situation where it works.

A couple of suggestions: go slow, use just a little bit of pressure at all times, and try the trick on a part that isn't visible just to be sure that your version of Clampdown doesn't have dicey paint that flakes off easily. Make sure the eraser is "warmish" (hold it in in your hand for a minute or two) and that the point of contact with Clampdown is clean (you can clean off the eraser on a clean piece of paper, or a counter top). You'll know pretty much right away if it works, and the scratch will transfer to the eraser.

It left more than a 'shadow', it removed the paint too (not all of the paint, just the centre which got the most rubbing).

When I removed the tampos from MP-27 and MP-12+ they left 'shadows', kinda like tanlines, which were covered by my replacement stickers just fine.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but is the MP-17+ Prowl definitely made by Hasbro?

Do they share the same factory? Is there any difference e.g. paint, QC, to the collector?

The one in stock at Kapow says Hasbro...

All MP-17+s are definitely made by Takara Tomy. The ones being sold under the Hasbro name are the same product, but Hasbro Asia is simply distributing them and importing to other regions through their partnership with Takara, and slipping a Hasbro sleeve over the box.
