But why would you do that? See that’s the thing I always find weird about this whole argument. The scenarios are all very specific.

I don't get what the complaining is all about. At least this goes to shows the franchise is well and thriving (unlike GI.Joe).

There's different aspects of the franchise for all to enjoy.
There's the 3P crowd. There's the Funko pop crowd. There's the hot toys crowd. There's the high end TF statues crowd. There's the 3A crowd...And now this! The more the merrier & let's not be narrow minded about it.

...you know, MP-24's available for half this price all day long if that's what you really want; even has a third-party victory leo available, fully-compatible to create victory saber...

...if you're looking for an IDW zealot and hyper-poseable, hyper-detailed action figures aren't your thing, planet X has you covered, too, and quite masterfully if dezarus is any indication if what's to follow...

...for the folks who can afford this kind of scratch and have the display space for a robot model without peer, this figure is their jam, and our hobby's all the lusher for it...

Jesus Star Saber is insaaaaaaane. And if he's anything like Tarn in engineering he's a good price at 400 with all that gear added in. Maaaaaaaaaaaaan I love these things.

Also, the Actionmaster thing is old...I did a podcast on it. They were a very specific sub-branding with very specific visual intents. Bumblebee is partially based off the Actionmaster design but he's not one. Saber is more in line with the Soul of Chogokin line (without all the downsides of trying to do a transforming design at that level of engineering...hey Zyuranger/Power Ranger SOCS...) or similar very high end collectibles.

If you can make a buck selling 36" SD Omega Supreme, I say go for it. I love the variety. Just don't expect me to shell out for everything. I'm a fan, but I'm not a fanatic. LOL

Basically the same part of me that wants to collect Metal Build Gundams wants this.

Also the same part of me that cringes at the price point of Metal Build Gundams cringes at this.

It\'s damned nice though, happy for the niche that has the interest/funds to buy these and happy to look at pretty pictures.

But it's way more poseable and detailed than any Actionmaster or even Masterpiece, along with the moving joints and die cast that's where the money is going.

Alot of transforming robot series have high-end action figures that dont transform/combine. Transformers is just finally following suit, except there's a weird stigma against non-transforming figures, as if a Transformer needs to transform in order to be good.

Because some people want a really poseable, really detailed version of Star Saber. People answered this question for you before in other threads, people want the character, Gundams aren't characters; and as much as the aesthetics align, none of them have Star Saber's unique design.

Once pre-ordered. I just set aside $100.00 bucks a month then ditch other stuff I may have had interest in. I get it though. Rule of thumb depending on the mortgage. For Each $100.00 towards principal it will shave 8 years off of a 30 year fixed.

Dang, that is one good looking Star Saber. And I especially love the sword he comes with. But $400? Yeah, I'll have to go the Project X's Kadmos. Maybe he'll come with a decent double-edge sword as an extra? Or I can hope for an add-on kit that makes him more G1.

Well, it is a model kit not an action figure, so the parts count is immediately higher. If they engineered it to transform too, the asking price would be way higher than $400. ;)

The Star saber is not a model kit.

Just rechecked, and indeed it is not a model kit; thanks for catching me! That said, I think my point still stands.

Yeah very true. In truth you’re gonna be paying premium for the sculpt, paint and also included lights. And the quality is gonna be assured unlike a kit which you’ve gotta make sure has good tolerances.

I don't think the lights are what make it expensive. KOs often included lights in "better versions" of existing toys. It's more to do with the materials, license, design and probably the limited market for the product.

I actually do really dig the design and look of that bumblebee model. If I had $50 to burn I'd totally pick one up.
