I avoid the clutter by only collecting Iron Factory figures (3P Legends scale) and tossing the boxes. They all fit in a relatively small display or they can be packed up in small plastic boxes with bubble wrap.

I only ever collected CHUG previously and their size and boxes were still a burden. I couldn’t imagine the MP stuff.

Mods, can we get a seperate forum for boxes, since it seems there is a new thread every week, and people cant be assed to actually look through recent threads. It could be named Boxtasrophe, since it caused so much emotional pain.

I mainly got rid of all boxes, except for official Takara MP's, which I removed the plastic clamshell and then opened and flattened for storage.

Be sure to make your title click bait and not include the word box.

I'm selective about which boxes, I keep in the closet. If the figure has thin, sharp parts, I usually keep the box. If I buy an expensive figure or one that has expert paint deco, I keep the box. If I buy a figure, that I may sell, I keep the box. If I buy a figure that can convert into an all in one chunk, I toss the box and recycle it. All Hasbro boxes are recycled.

And I only need to complete Zeta Superion and I'm done with combiners. I've invested a lot of money into Warbotron Brute. And I bought the upgrade for CW Defensor. I love Generation Toys Menasor and I love my Unite Warriors (w upgrade) Devy. So, I'm happy! Almost done...

I don’t like talking about this because I feel like I might be one of the worst when it comes to hoarding. I have the boxes to most the toys I’ve ever owned (and I still own pretty much every toy I’ve ever owned) including those giant boxes for things like the GI Joe Hovercraft, G1 Transformers with big boxes like Superion gift set, Galvatron, etc. I have two storage spaces filled from floor to ceiling, every closet in my house is filled from floor to ceiling and in the last year or so, every corner in my hallway is filled from floor to ceiling, blocking off windows and my back door, every space around my cars in the garage are filled floor to ceiling. These are all toys that are mib, misb, their empty boxes if the toy is out on display or old toys back in their original boxes. I don’t regret any of it but at the same time, I can’t recommend it for anyone else. It’s too late for me and the only thing I can do is move into bigger houses but if these things don’t mean as much to you, find a way to get rid of or consolidate them.

I had a huge double wide closet that was FULL top to bottom with boxes.
I got sick of playing Jenga with them...figured they were a fire hazard...
So I put all accessories and instructions in zip loc bags, and tossed all packaging.
At the time, I was living in an apartment, and the boxes/clamshells FILLED the recycling dumpster.
After everything was condensed, it all fit into one large Rubbermaid tote.

It was a tough decision to make, but looking back, I have zero regrets.

Honestly thinking of converting to legends MPs. Much as I love the current scale, it's become painfully obvious that the more I add, the less room I have, both in toy size, display size, and box size accumulation. I can easily toss Hasbro boxes, But 3rd party just can't do it because of the potential resale value they add if ever needed.

Maybe it's just getting older and just realizing I don't need these massive interpretations of everyone to have a satisfying collection. Seems other are starting to feel the same way judging by the outpour of legend class MPs in the last year or so.

Flatten the boxes, take all the clamshell inserts and mash em together as best you can. Store all in one large box. That's what I do with Pops and many of the Transformers figures I have out.

I just toss the clamshells. Even flattened my box collection does take up hella space, so I may pare it down again.
