My first thought is Nova Prime.

 

I think it's the same reason for any Classics / Generations update. We could ask your question of any character that has received the Generations treatment. I think the answer is to enjoy the update in a modern toy line. Weather or not it's better is of course up to you.

Oh man oh man oh man! My entire perception of both Siege and the IDW reboot just changed drastically (for the better)! I thought this was just gonna be yet another G1 line but with Cybertronian alt modes and nothing more (that’s not inherently bad, just a little tired), but this suggests that there’s gonna be references to previous designs besides G1! First was Hound with some movie references, then Ultra Magnus with his RID truck, and now we have a full on Galaxy Force Prime that has a G1-inspired base and a Super Mode! If more hybrid designs keep showing up, I’ll be investing quite a bit more in Siege.

I hope this trend of G1 designs mixing with those of other continuities continues. We could get an Animated-inspired Megatron, slap some cannons on Starscream’s shoulders to reference Armada, give Jazz’s head a Bayverse look, etc. the possibilities are endless!

This year will truly be the year of the Prime for me. I’ll be picking up Wei Jiang’s MPM-4 (though it’s basically a new mold), Studio Series 2007 Prime, Studio Series Bumblebee Prime, and now this. Then I have to save up for MPM Jazz before anything, so I guess this year is actually year of the bankruptcy...

Still got Cybertron OP in my toy chest. Still... this will be brought.

 

As someone who grew up on Cybertron (and the whole Unicron trilogy) this is an instant buy for me. Looks amazing, glad I passed on Ultra Magnus for this.

Cybertron was what got me hooked on Transformers way back in the second grade, so to see some sort of representation of it, this sort of love for it, it just really warms my heart.

I'm with Netkid on this, and I think I can elaborate his point (since some of you might have missed it): where's the creativity?

We are looking for original releases, not just stripped-down rehashes! This is better articulation, but none of the charming, original gimmicks (i.e. electronics, lights, and sounds).

If Hasbro is committed to re-hashing every release, you will understand Netkid's complaint fully - because eventually, even the most open-minded of you will be irritated by seeing the same toys again and again and again!

I'm not a believer of "everyone likes things differently, and someone will like this, for sure!" This is a business of selling toys, so it hardly matters if 10 people enjoy a new version of Cybertron Optimus. Does the majority want this toy enough to justify the production?

And in answer to that, consider which Cybertron character they chose to test this route.   Hasbro... you disappoint me.

 

If you already have a better version of this and don't feel the need to spend any money, why the hell bother being disappointed over nothing?

 

My unsolicited thoughts:

1. That actually looks rather goofy compared to the original.
2. Where's the scat tampos and battle damage?
3. Sad it's not Delta Magnus, to be honest - of whom would make more sense being a pre-Earth G1 toyline. Maybe he'll find a home in Select.
4. Kinda saw it coming, though, with Ultra Magnus's transformation and the media hint drops.

*sigh* I'll probably get it though because I'm weak willed when it comes to Transformers. I swore off PotP Primal because I thought he looked disappointing and still ended up with one. My feelings were confirmed in hand and ended up cancelling a preorder for the Japanese release of the SDCC version. I'll probably end up with the same feelings of disappointment here...
