I didn't choose them based on their alt modes.
I chose those seven because they're a good portion of the core G1 Bots I grew up with.

As Optimus pointed out, the Bots are all scattered across the galaxy. The 7 pods shown are not neccessarily the only ones en route, just the first of the pods we see.

I would think we would see others like Ironhide, Hound, Trailbreaker, Grapple, Hoist, Skyfire, Cosmos.......among those en route to Earth. ;)

Regarding the Michael Bay films, were there points of cannon and that you had to stick to? Did you feel constricted that you have to meet certain things or not contradict certain things?

Yes, there is always concern with that although I think that continuity is certainly not a huge priority of Michael's. He prioritizes other things like incredible visuals and spectacle and fun. But even within the films themselves as much as I enjoyed them there are inconsistencies, so with this film if you're going to be consistent with one thing you'll be inconsistent with another thing. But it was important that I had a degree of continuity and wanting to tell a self contained story that was not necessarily bound by a decade of mythology, which was a little bit tricky. We had to simplify it. I wanted to make sure that an audience could come to the film watch it from beginning to end and have a good time, get all the information and all the fun they can get out of it. But at the same time someone who is a Transformers fan can get other layers of entertainment. But yes there were definitely things you couldn't play around with (editor's note, see Megatron article for examples) and there were other things that we could take some liberties with.

I've been searching the internet for any theories that might be related to something that I noticed while watching Bumblebee and found none, so I'll be asking you guys if anyone of you also notice this. This theory of mine will only be possible if they go to the reboot route.

I was curious to the emphasis they've given to Charlie's car which is quite similar to Carly's convertible in G1.
Is it possible that Charlie will become the G1 Carly and only named Charlie by the filmmakers to avoid confusion with DOTM Carly?

I didn't see Charlie as this movie's G1 version of Carly. I thought she was polar opposite of Carly.

Charlie is a mechanically inclined tomboy. She's more punk rock than Carly's preppy girly girl.
Charlie is more introverted, where Carly is extroverted.

I saw the Corvette more as a physical representation of Charlie's personal journey going full circle.
(I admit that when I realized the car was a Corvette, I immediately thought of Crosshairs, Swipe and Tracks :lol ).

There were alot of Easter Eggs in this movie though, so anything is possible.

I agree of them being polar opposite.

In a writing standpoint, I found it weird that none of the events of the film directly helps Charlie in fixing her dad's car unlike her having the courage again to dive at the end.
I don't know. lol, maybe I'm just overthinking about it. Maybe it really is just an easter egg. Like you said, anything is possible.

I'm hoping that the sequel will still be in the 80s.

Me too. I REALLY want to know who those 7 incoming Bots are.
I'm excited to see where they take these movies, now that they're set in an alternate Earthbound universe.
So long as they stick to the beautiful, sleeker G1 aesthetics that we saw in Bumblebee.

Oh, and have Ratchet fix Bee's voice box. They need to stop with the mute Bee gimmick.

This movie was a lot fun. I enjoyed every moment. Yeah I'm not too big on the G1 stuff, but this was Travis' gift to fans.
Now Blitzwing never said "Where's Optimus Prime!"
Also, the scene at the end of the movie with Bee and Optimus doesn't seem as good as the cybertron scene.
Whatever they're planning after BB, I hope they at least keep Christina Hodson.

The journey she had with bee was what helped her. She'd given up on it, she found it too much for her to do by herself. Her adventure with bee helped her get reinvigorated, refind her passion and determination to fix it. That's what part of the movie helped her fix the car. I'm glad it went that way, and there was no direct "this thing that happened to me let me find this part of machinery that fixed the car." It felt much more satisfying for her the way it happened.

Just watched it again, and I love this movie. Specifically I like that it takes time to dwell on emotional scenes and the characters. It doesn't rush from one explosion filled mess to another, but rather really connects us to Charlie specifically, and her family/Memo to a certain extent. Her development is great, and she's not a "chosen one" or useless decoration. She makes a difference and makes it look believable (for a movie about alien transforming robots).
I don't think this movie will ever get the credit I think it deserves, but hopefully it's the start of brighter times for the franchise.

I'm happy to have directly caused 6 ticket sales for this one.

That scene was my favourite too. It just felt so natural when they hugged - which was something I never thought I'd see in a TF film after the others. I also liked the way the background music blended in with Unchained Melody at the end.

I finally was able to see it today. That was a real transformers movie. I was smiling the whole time. I will be honest though I didn't really care for Shatter or Dropkick as much as I thought I would. I really loved the relationship formed between Bee and Charlie. Great moments between them. I really don't want it to lead into the Bay films (which was contradicted in the film itself). I hope we get another movie like this it was heartfelt with a good story.

The movie is a whole different continuity. Sure, there were nods to Bayverse, but this is more of a parallel timeline.

This isn't a prequel to Bayverse, it's a prequel to this new alternate timeline they're setting up.

    Optimus already on Earth
Bee arriving on Earth in 1987 ( not around WW2)
Bee losing his voice on Earth, wirh no Ratchet trying to fix it.
    7 Incoming Autobots to Earth
Decepticons creating the world wide web
The Cons not knowing about Earth until 1987
Bee's mission being to set up a base on Earth and to protect the planet.....

    Just to name a few.
This is not Bayverse or a prequel to it.
This is another continuity set in a parallel timeline.
