The extraordinarily derpy drone limbs killed it. The spring-loaded gimmick didn't always work, and some wouldn't even stay transformed proper after plugging them into the Combiner mode.

The Two-Packs of Scout + Minicon/Targetmaster were far better, because they just shrugged the gimmick aside, focusing on the fact that many Scouts were actually pretty nice.

TFC seemed to want to go all in on this... They made the Iron Army, a set of Tank/Airplanes that served as PCC limbs, perfect for Heavy Tread or Bombshock. There was a prototype for a torso bot that never made the light of day. They also gave their Ares not-Predaking's limb bots all PCC ports to support the PCC commander gimmick. Lastly, there was a super-deformed Hercules that uses PCC ports for limbs. I still want the G2 colored version for PCC Sledge. See my sig for how neat the TFC PCC Herc limb bots are.

Shame the Super-Deformed Herc was one of a kind... I'd have gone all in on the TFC Predaking bots if they made an SD Ares with animal PCC limbs.......

I just bought from sales threads here. I bought Utopia from someone and was just shooting the crap with him talking about all of the stuff I was looking for and he happened to have one he was going to list and added it on for a killer 50 bucks or so.

 

I've been feeling the urge to remove this figure's standard fists and give him aftermarket hands with poseable fingers. Anyone have any thoughts on which ones I should buy to do this?

 

The legs I can comprehend, but what about the arms? How'd you manage that? lol

 

Question about Chaos Paladin: the hands

Do you guys think the hands could be replaced with 3rd party hands? Y'know, ones with poseable fingers, like the aftermarket ones for Masterpiece figures?

Nope, the fists are not required for transformation. They're even removable, in fact, because at the base of the wrist is another PCC connector plug (attached to the hand, not the forearm).

From the pics on the front page, you can see that the fists just hang out on the back of the vehicle mode.

 

Ah yes. Well then, this would be a worthy customizing project... I wonder which 3p hands would be the right size to use? I don't have many of them myself...

 

It's been awhile since I've handled the figure, but I think the ones meant of the Autobot Cars would size up the best. He's in that Voyager/Ultra range. Plus his stock hands are rather over-large and meaty, so there should be a bit of leeway there.

 

If you don't care for the Paladin Scout's head popping off, you can readily store the PotP Megatronus Titanmaster into the chest slot. Who said The Fallen was Heartless?

 

Man... I was waiting for the longest time to pick this up from TFSource, but I waited too long and now it's gone.

 

Kinda necroposting, but got this guy now thanks to someone else on the board selling theirs, and I'm quite happy with him, aside from the hands.

Wonder how he's holding up in other people's collections.

That version of Megatronus came with the CW Blast-Off that had his proper alt mode.

Guns were Shapeways pieces for Power Core Combiners. No longer available though.

 

I wonder if there are any fan modes out there that have the Paladin tank and the Mobine missile launcher combined as one in vehicle mode?

 

where are those shoulder cannons from?

 

One set comes with the figure if memory serves me. Looks to be a double set from all the parts all over the place.
