Yeah, I'm trying to keep my expectations low on this dude -- part of the reason I waited until a Flash Sale to buy him ($62!).

But hey, I learned something about myself as a collector -- sometimes sculpt is just the most important thing to me (as evidenced of my irrational love for VooDoo's Ratchet and Ironhide), and Katana's sculpt is pretty snazzy. So I hope I'll be happy with him.

Katana looks gorgeous, it's a shame that he is a bit fiddly, but I have him in alt-mode looking great as a display piece!

I think the fiddliness is really due to the construction and materials. The transformation really isn’t bad at all from an engineering standpoint. The only design element that I was actually disappointed with was the ankle and foot articulation. (Also no light pipeping dang it!!!!)

I wish I had their Menasor for comparison. I’m wondering if they kept it so light just to save some strain on the combiner joints. If that theory is at all correct, then I fear first aid will be similar and be somewhat thin and fragile as well.

    Still going all in...

    Thanks, bro. :D

    It was a combination of:
    - finding a seller who has a low price already (about $79 via Bababobo00712 on eBay)
    - taking advantage of his automatic coupon of 7% discount when you buy four figures (Down to about $73)
    - And then the "15% off Flash Sale" discount (Down to about $62)

I had to buy four figures from Baba to do this, but they all got the 7% off + 15% off discount.

Katana is the way it is, due to the nature of his alt-mode, First Aid is going to be more straight forward.

Their Menasor, aka Havoc is a piece of art, very well done aesthetic wise, he had some stability issues but TFM worked on those problems and now it's probably the most impressive Menasor ever produced.

I can understand getting a different Defensor as a placeholder, if you really want something on your shelf *now*.
I'm personally content to wait for the entire team to be released.

We don't have good info for dates. At one point, First Aid was scheduled to release in June 2018 :p

So I was thinking of getting the pair of these. I’ve read the thread and it seems like there is mixed opinions. I don’t buy much third party, but the ones I do have are usually pretty hardy. I’m also used to ‘fixing’ them occasionally so I’m not a stranger to issues. Anyone recommend these? I do transform my figures on occasion.

I was going to look at the KO Guardia but I wasn’t hot on the individual bots. The only other one I’m seriously considering is the TFC combiner but it seems kinda squat?

Btw, the reason I ask in this thread is because I like the bot and alt modes of the 3 revealed members moreso than TFC or Guardia. But I don’t want to get something I may regret or can’t stand manipulation.

Overall question about Defensor/Protectobots. I am in no rush to buy, but other then G1 toys I have bought nothing on the market. My question is on what is available, which company has the best looking Defensor and which has the best looking Protectcobots, but modes. I ask you all for your opinions, as I do not know how many are on the market. Also would like a Defensor to pair with Ordin. Thanks

Here is a thread similar to your question. There is an oversized KO by Yes-model of Guardia now. You won’t find Guardia for cheap anymore. Generation Toy is looking to be tallest but I was considering quality.

    Guardia VS Prometheus!

No one has posted any word on the next release, and GT's Weibo site does not look to have any recent information on anything, so it's anyone's guess. We're still in the usual post-Chinese New Year lull so no expectation of any news soon. You should be advised that there was a VERY long gap between the first and second figures in this set (around 9-10 months, IIRC) so it might be a long time yet before we see or hear anything.

Oh I definitely know about the wait times on these figures. I purchased their Gravity Builder and Menasor figures as they were released and started this set. After seeing the test pictures of Groove, I was hoping he would be released soon (he may wind up being my favorite in this set with Blades being my least favorite GT figure to date) as he looked pretty impressive.

Agreed, Bull looks pretty damn impressive. But I really like their figures (aside from Blades). They have some heft to them
