Interesting and revealing only if you didn't already know how little they know about and care about TF. Because there's nothing TF to see here. Nothing but some more insect cliches.

    Serious hotness....

This is the Bayformers Seeker design we always needed... not the gorilla-kite.

I really think someone on the production has a fetish for vertical mouths at this point.

I'm glad many of these were canned. Some interesting ideas but nothing wow among them.

There\'s a lot of really good stuff there, but some of these look kinda lazy. Like # 11 Decepticon Warrior, looks like when your kid is on the floor with a Transformer above their level and you look at it and say \"I think you skipped a few steps there buddy.\"

21 Bumblebee Battle Mask looks cool. If they kept that and gave him a more G1 face it would have been perfect.

The rest of the designs mostly don't look good, some even like Go-Bots. I'm glad with most of the design choices they did.

Holy shit, that Vietnam concept art suddenly puts the Studio Series "WW2" Bumblebee into a whole new light. It almost looks like the figure was designed based on early concept art before that whole scene got scrapped and then they had to shoehorn it into TLK for it to make sense - this probably explains why he doesn't have the right vehicle mode. (Weird that the car he turns into would appear in Vietnam so maybe my theory is way off, but it makes a lot more sense this way than it did previously.)

Not sure why they didn't bother using the original concept artist from 2007 movie.

these designs look so far removed from transformers. whoever the concept artist was had no grasp at all on what these characters should look like. yuck.

    Can't... tell... if serious... :sly:

Anyway, can't argue with the final designs for Bumblebee and Blitzwing. In the end, they nailed them. I say this as someone who has mostly disliked the movie aesthetic from square one... but there are ways to do it right.

A lot of these concept pieces look a bit too much like featureless drones, so I get that. Doesn't really follow Bayformers or G1 styles. But those vertical mouths feel like something we might have gotten in Bayformers Decepticons.

Yeah...as much as I like the 2007 design, if they ever make a figure of this guy, he's standing in as my Starscream, lol.

Indeed. Let's face it... we all KNOW who this was meant to be. Whatever can be said about the merits of the flying Dorito design from the earlier movies, this sleek, sexy, silver beast with the identifiable silhouette is pure Starscream.

He wasn't intended to be Starscream. Supposedly he was just a random Seeker until he was assigned the name "Blitzwing" (probably by Hasbro, because a named character is more marketable than a generic). The actual Starscream is seen on Cybertron briefly, and he looks quite different in color, height, and head design.

Ehhh, I dunno why they didn't just make him Starscream. Even regardless of the body style change there's nothing I can remember that says he couldn't have been on Earth as early as the 80's.

To me the design seems like a wink and a nod to people that wanted an more classic styled Starscream so they made this look very G1 Starscream in style and even color layout.

Yeah if I were to take a guess, this has to be what happened. Was always meant to be a generic Decepticon soldier, and Knight took the chance to make it a far more traditional Seeker type design as a bone for the fans. Then the delay and the reshoots happened, Cybertron scene was added in, and he made it the proper Seeker body type, both to save resources and because why not?

It could be a nod to Starscream, but I don't think it was actually intended to be him. As I recall, there were other Seekers in G1 with the same (or similar) color scheme to Starscream. This version of Blitzwing is likely something like that.

He wasn't named Starscream maybe because of what happened to Blitzwing's fate on Earth?
