Ah yes the "I've been a fan" line. Always the ones that want to see what they got in TLJ which the majority of the fandom disagreed with the minority that is you given the box office and toy sale result kid.

They're going to go with a new approach or lose the license.

By next week's end it will hit 400 mil easy if China's numbers stick. Wouldn't count on domestic anymore, maybe another 10mil.

Not that I really believe in the 2-3 times the budget = profit rule, but yeah the BO haul to date and Paramount declaring it a minor profit is good news. Fingers crossed they will treat it as a reboot moving forward.

    Please.

Bumblebee is currently #25 in worldwide gross for 2018 (Boxofficemojo). It will easily be in the top 20 when the movie exits theaters. Those are facts.

    It’s not a flop.

Paramount is actually in way deeper trouble with Star Trek and is sure to lose the license from Viacom to produce more trek movies
The bombing of beyond (bigger bomb than tlk) made them lower the price tag for ST4 which meant the two Hollywood Chris (Hemsworth and Pine) called quits.
Today news came out that there will be two more mission impossible movies as a avengers infinity war style finale, meaning paramount only has transformers and Mi to rely on....with this iteration of Mi ending in 2021 with cruise pushing 60.
As Star Trek is produced by second party Bad Robots Of JJ Abram, I can foresee paramount being safe with the in-house produced transformers franchise and keeping what has worked for them for the last 10 years instead of complete reboot. Whether they can convince hasbro (assuming hasbro wants reboot) is another matter

Yeah, the numbers were a little worrisome for this weekend but comparing the weekend gross for Bumblebee and TLK, Bumblebee made $7.2M vs TLK's $2.8M during week 4. It seems like Bumblebee has much more steam in its engine. There's still a small chance of Bee outgrossing TLK domestically—we'll see.

    "Show me the facts"

    "NO YOU SHOW ME FACTS"

I'm asking about Bumblebee, not Star Trek. Stop deflecting.

And if you're referring to this: "Bumblebee" Projected To Be A Financial Flop Despite Being A Good Movie - well, I could hardly even call this an article. And it's old - from December 21st, lol

    Now, numbers please and thx

P.S.: For shits and giggles, I took a look at ST Beyond. So it only made $343.5 million worldwide off a $185 million budget.

So far, BB has made $367 million on a budget of $135 million, and it's still out. Not sure how that makes it a flop. It's making MORE money than STB and it cost $50 million less. I know, math is hard sometimes.

Hopefully Bumblebee can climb a few more slots on the domestic charts so it's a healthy mix of domestic and international. Since most of the movies it could overtake have finished up their domestic run perhaps Bumblebee can climb those slots.

You do know box office mojo only show what the studio will admit to right? The studio have no obligation to tell the full truth. With reshooting large portions of the movie and adding CGI to then later be taken out in some cases, paying for hotels etc. adds to the production. Factoring in marketing too, which they usually match what they'll admit to then this thing was solidly in trouble. If you're counting on the Chinese box office to fluff numbers up, they take a cut of 2/3 so leaves Paramount with very little.

Star Trek Beyond is a strong comparison not a deflection because they said that made money and it really didn't and now that series is dead. This is what will happen here. They'll either start fresh, lose the license because Paramount are in serious trouble or go grovelling back to Bay.

They cancelled it due to Hemsworth and Pine who's expected to return, walk away from the project because they refuse to take pay cuts due to Beyond's performance. And with little box office increase's progression after movie #1 and #2, Paramount is no longer interested in Star Trek franchise. It's not the same with Transformers as the movies before are always a hugehbox office success

The lads walked away because pay cuts came due to under performance. Star Trek is a massive franchise and to dismiss it as not really an issue or factor for the studio isn't looking at it the right way.

Star Trek And tf are actually a good comparison
The Kelvin JJ abram Star Trek movies had a underperforming flop and has a large portion of its fan base rejoicing in its demise. The director And lead producer has constantly said that he isn’t a fan of the Star Trek source material and has been hated by many fans.
    Sound familiar?

I’d say paramount IS interested in more Trek despite all 3 movies having weak Bo....but they have no funding left and literally no cash to make a Trek movie at the same scale as 1-3...hence pay cuts.

This thread is quite fun to watch as the armchair quarterbacks speculate on what they think they know is happening internally at a company they don't work at. ;)

And the observer that stands outsides and judges them all with a sense of superiority, as if he/she has never taken part in such a pointless debate. heheh
