Preferably, I'd wouldn't want any solo movies, but if I had to choose...

Starscream. Without a doubt.

 

None of them. They don't deserve and can't support solo movies.

A bit of tension in this thread. Perhaps I shouldn't have phrased it as a solo movie. Maybe movies more in the style of IDW's Spotlight books. Or maybe the Fandom needs to lighten up. This is a hobby, not life and death.

There's a disproportionate amount of hostility among the Fandom in recent years. I understand the resistance to change when you care and are invested in a hobby but it's only a hobby. For a long time, I was tired of the constant reboots but I've come to accept them over the years. Occasionally there are changes or ideas I don't like but I've learned to try and ignore what I don't like and focus on the positives.

For example, initially I didn't like the animalistic styles of the RID Decepticons but the likes of Steeljaw and Quillfire were such likeable characters, I grew to enjoy the series and found that most of the Decepticons were actually enjoyable characters with actual personalities.

On the subject of the Spotlight books, while I've never been a fan of Kup, his Spotlight could make for the basis of an interesting solo movie. Same with Wheelie and Nightbeat.

Someone mentioned teams earlier. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing movies focussed on some of the many G1 teams such as the Triggercons, Protectobots or the Rescue Patrol. Oh and the Scavengers!

A few more characters I think could carry a solo story are...

G1 Ironhide
Hot Rod
Jazz
Tracks
Stake Out
Countdown
Motormaster or Octane. Look up the Spielberg classic, Duel, and you'll see what I mean.

Someone mentioned the Wreckers. A series inspired by IDW where different line ups are assembled for differnt missions.

Fact is, if it's well written or directed, any movie will work. No matter the cast...

Y'all know why. They held back the freakiness between Bumblebee and Charlie. Time to let it loose with Powerglide and Astoria.

 

We need a Solo TF movie directed by Seth MacFarlane. Watch the Orville and you'll know why.

 

I wonder if Paramount is missing an opportunity not revisiting the Pretender concept. But I'm thinking less ROTF Alice, more Super-God Masterforce Hawk, Lander, Phoenix and Diver. They could cast actual actors that way, and make the Autobots true main characters without spending millions on costly CGI except for a few key scenes.

 

I don't like the idea of solo films for Transformers. Smaller casts in some instances, but I still prefer Transformers as an ensemble film franchise.

If you were to twist my arm, so I had to choose a single character, I would say Lockdown as an anti-hero hunting some rogue Decepticons.

 

Hound, supported by Brawn, Wheeljack, Prowl and Sunstreaker. That combo of personalities could make for an interesting lineup. The villains could be Starscream, Barricade, Soundwave and the Stunticons.

 

We need a buddy movie- focusing on The Twins

 

If they do another solo movie it will no doubt be Optimus Prime. I'd rather they didn't do another solo but I could see a movie about the Dinobots being fun. If there going for movies to attract kids, a movie about robots transforming into dinosaurs seems like a no brainer. Maybe their enemy could be the Predacons/Predaking. A cool action/monster movie.

 

Starscream, along the lines of the "Reign of Starscream" comics.

And Lockdown, 100%.

Maybe Optimus Prime if it's mostly focused on his pre-Prime days and leading up to him ascending to leadership.

summary: a gossip columnist learns a lesson in empathy when her own life begins to go off the rails

starring: Topspin
summary: one Autobot tries to find happiness again after the loss of his brother and best friend

summary: one Sweep tries to maintain his identity in a community of uniformity

I'd be down for a Hound movie (Knight or Bayverse). If it were in Knightverse, I would make it be during BB, and have him evading Decepticons on his way to Earth. Maybe have him running from Lockdown.

For a small group of TFs, I'd have Smokescreen, WheelJack, Jazz, and Artfire.
