That is a good question. Or maybe can someone Shapeways up connectors.

    Also, can it Scramble City?

Never allow human dynamics because of altmode cloud your opinion regarding tf operations.

If Starscream as an F15, can travel in space and underwater, blastoff can achieve orbit as well. And he was cabable of launching without runways, and even vertically or by jumping and transforming in mid air.

I wouldnt say that. Its alien tech, who knows? The norm back in there seemed to be that the altmode modifies itself to the capabilities of the robot. Not the other way around.

If that's the case, why bother with wings at all? Megatron and Soundwave superman that shiz all day, unless the wings aren't wings at all and some kinda anti-gravity panels. At which point we're back to physics taking a holiday.

I think people are misinterpreting my post. Someone mentioned a boat on an otherwise land-based team being impractical (which is perfectly true), so I was just highlighting another example to show how downright silly Transformers teams are in general. It's all in good fun. Yay robots.

    Other silly team-ups:
    - A passenger jet leading a squadron of fighters
    - A motorcycle that must be huge to match the rest of the rescue vehicles on its team
    - Two prey animals and a carrion bird cooperating with a couple of apex predators
    - A clearly freshwater turtle and a bunch of marine fish with legs
    - Three jets and two tanks joined together by a... dune buggy with a missile rack, I think?
    - Going outside the combiners: a group of five prehistoric reptiles which don't even come from the same geologic periods. Blasphemy.

And I love'em all, including this boat-former. As others have said, really wish this thing was CW compatible. It looks fun!

Well, yeah. I mean, we get you. Now we're just quibbling over stupid stuff because we can. We're Transformers fans. That's what we do.

The botmodes had wings, because they were designed from the start to transform into tetrajets. When they were reformated the core mode (robot) was left unganged, it got a new altmode, but that altmode was modified suffieciently to incorporate the bot modes capability:

-All seekers have their signature arm mounted cannons contrary to the terran rottary cannons.
-Each jet is cabable of using the individuals special abilities due to their chip rectifiers: Starscreams null ray and cluster bombs, Skywarps teleport and bounce bombs, Thundercrackers sonic boom, and flamestorm cannon (or whatever its called).
-All of them are capable of undersea and vertical flight and take off, even in mid air.
-Starscream is capable of interstellar travel and assuming so are the others.

EDIT: Just remembered that Dirge was capable of interstellar flight as well as Blitzwing. Another example of the altmode been just an afterthought and just incorporating the abilities of the core bot. That also explains why they kept them around as they were antiquated by the time of season 3.

Just a few examples that just come to mind.

The team ups were not based on alt mode. The team ups were based on each individuals ability, personality and role withing the team.
They were given alt modes that sort of matched, but that was not the priority, that was the means to an end.

Which is only logical, since they are robots, not cars or plains or animals.
