Yes please! Word for word as he said. At least the transformers will be uttering those worlds, instead of grunting while the humans deliver all the lines.

    That's an unfair statement.

Sometimes they bleep bloop. Or scream.

Besides, the opinion of the public is generally more accurate as to what to expect from a movie.

About 80% is a huge improvement from TLK, no movie is going to impress everyone but at least the general consensus is that Transformer movies are starting to move back in the right direction with Bumblebee.

No beast wars had characterization, plot, and could communicate a story about transformers. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I didn’t think dw’s Comic was able to add anything substantial to beast wars, and I really hope paramount stays away from it. They will find so many ways to screw it up too. I think the bayverse crowd needs to own the fact that if bayverse happens again it will kill any hopes for new transformers. Hasbro is pushing that plate away using a fork because it saw what it did to transformers nostalgia.

The biggest problems are that they didn't even bother paying attention to the chronology of the cinematic universe they created, or distinguishing between ideas from the broad TF mythos that could have worked really well (the Quintessons) and ones that wouldn't (Unicron).

I don't think the answer to making any of the live action movies better was making them longer.

Nice to see it's probably going to make a profit.

China Box Office: ‘Bumblebee’ Buzzes to $58 Million, but ‘Creed II’ Fails to Land Punch
Chinese moviegoers are raving about the film, giving it a high 9.2 out of 10 rating on user review platform Maoyan and a solid 7.3 on Douban. Users cooed over puppy-like lead Autobot Bumblebee, calling him “utterly adorable,” with many saying the new film was sure to appeal to more women. A number also praised its “old school feel,” and welcomed the change of pace in the first franchise feature not to be directed by explosion-happy Michael Bay.

    Copy pasted from another thread:

Japan is notorious for getting movies late. There's no real rhyme or reason for why, but some movies come out 6 months to a year later. One reason is possibly because Japan has it's own fairly strong movie industry, but so does China and India.
Another popular theory is that Japanese distributors like to sit on movies that they are unsure about, in order to wait for International reactions to put on posters "The Number 1 movie in the US!", "The whole world laughed" etc... and so they can bring over the stars of the movie for public appearances and the premiere.

Like I said elsewhere, while living there, I ended up streaming some movies (Deadpool, Moana and a few othes) via VPN because they were out on American streaming services and DVD before the Japanese cinema release

See, I'm one of the fans that was so turned off by the Bayverse from RotF onwards that I just can't with Bumblebee. People are saying it's a good movie, but for me the whole franchise, in terms of movies, is just burnt.
I'm not going to bother spending my money to see it.
I know it's just 'venom', but a whole lot more than a 'girl and her car movie' needs to be done to win me back.

    But thats just me.

I mainly go for critics scores. Fan scores are too easily gamed by people with agendas, eg Doctor Who.

Or in the case of movies like The Hitman's Bodyguard, they go to Netflix, in Japan as exclusives. I think some of it has to do with their culture. They like to promote from within, in a manner of speaking. Nothing wrong with that, but it makes it harder for foreign films like Bumblebee to make an impact. They get 'em, just second fiddle to whatever they've produced in country.

I'm not sure audience scores on RT should be held in particularly high esteem. The sample of people who bother with that sort of thing is too narrow and they are prone to being skewed by vocal minorities and (as PopCulturePooka says) people with agendas. They are only reflective of a certain demographic, not the wider public opinion.

That said, a simple and inoffensive tale like Bumblebee is probably safe enough in that regard.

He loved the movie but he’s deeming it a flop when China numbers this early on indicate otherwise, and Japan hasn’t even jumped in?

Hasn't Campea been disproven as a hack and an idiot, basically? I'm in no need of his word or info when there are better suited minds and mouths delivering the info.

If Bumblebee is indeed a disaster, I'd rather hear that from an actual analyst working in films than some YouTuber who claims to be "in".

He had some serious praise for the movie, so no need for the hate. I just felt his diagnosis was a bit premature under China’s current surprising circumstances.

That's great that he has praise for it, but I still stand by my statement. I can disagree with someone who has a positive opinion. Grace Randolph is an actual insider, Chris Stuckmann works in the industry and knows people (he knew about the rewrites to some degree) so if they made a comment about the financial end of things, I'd be fine. This Campea guy has been shown to be not completely accurate in the past. It would be like listening to Angry Joe (who let his buddies sway his opinion, rather than having one of his own) tell me about stock options. It's pointless.

Bumblebee may be a success overseas, it might be a disaster, who knows? I still want that info from a reputable source. Heck, I wouldn't even trust The Ragin Nation for those facts and figures.

Exactly 2/3rds of its earnings are international, almost 200 million so it seems pretty solid. It'll very likely hit the cost of film+advertising so probably going to cover costs. And based on projections it might hit the midd 400 million range by march, assuming it doesn't have the same drastic drop that TLK had.
