Star Wars feels now like something I have to do rather than something I want to do. It's not that any of the Disney movies have been bad. They've all been miles better than Attack of the Clones, for starters. It's just everything circling the movies now, mostly the fans, that have put me off.

Anyway, I'll watch Episode 9, but after that, I may be done.

I'm also in the must watch Star Wars Episode IX camp. While I didn't love The Last Jedi, I certainly didn't hate it either, and I think there's a lot of hyperbole, both positive and negative, said about it. I certainly would much rather watch a sequel to it just to see where it goes than see Solo, which I still have zero desire to watch.

I may check out Detective Pikachu, just to see live active Pokémon.

Oh, and I want to see Dumbo. The only live action Disney remake that's caught my interest for whatever reason.

Not sure what else. Maybe Godzilla? 2019 just doesn't excite me as far as movies. There's no Logan or Transformers or JW film coming out next year.

    Definitely seeing in theaters:

    1. Avengers: Endgame
    2. Halloween (whenever they decide to release it in Japan.. Otherwise I'll just have to stream it somewhere once the DVD comes out in the West)
    3. Bumblebee (it doesn't come out until March here in Japan)
    4. Spider-Man: Far From Home
    5. It: Chapter 2

    Might watch in theaters:

    6. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
    7. Detective Pikachu
    8. Aladdin
    9. The Lion King

The Lion King is my absolute movie of 2019. And coming in to share the top spot is Avengers: Endgame, Episode IX, and of course Toy Story 4. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a huge year lined up for movies, maybe not since 2011 with the then-endings of both Harry Potter and Bayformers. The last time a movie absolutely WAS a year for me besides Infinity War last year was Toy Story 3 for 2010. But this year? Hoo boy, FOUR major event movies that will reverberate through history and I’m excited to be a part of them.

Other big events this year are: Spider-Man: Far From Home, Wonder Woman 1984, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Captain Marvel.

    Battle Angel Alita
    Captain Marvel
    Shazam
    Avengers: Endgame
    Godzilla King of the Monsters
How To Train You Dragon 3
    Detective Pikachu
    John Wick 3

I might not get all of them, but those are on my list.

Dope! I swore I'd seen that before too but when I checked IMDB a few days ago it wasn't in the list of upcoming releases. Thanks for confirming! :D

Might be fun to grab the Japanese DVD in a few months and just watch it next Halloween then.
But dude, you're pretty lucky to have a wife you can watch horror flicks with.
I can't get my gf to watch anything scarier than King Kong lol

Top Tier Absolute musts, opening night:
    1) Avengers Endgame
    2) Godzilla: King of the Monsters
    3) Star Wars Ep IX
    4) Captain Marvel
    5) Spiderman Far from Home

Middle Tier Will see opening weekend:
    1) Dark Phoenix
    2) Joker (depending on the trailer for this, it could get bumped to top tier)
    3) Kingsman 3

Will see in theaters, but am in no rush to do so:
    1) Glass
    2) The Lego Movie 2
    3) Shazam
    4) Detective Pikachu
    5) Hobbs and Shaw
    6) The New Mutants
    7) Jumanji 2

I'm glad my fiance loves films as much as I do, I'm sure I'll have some smaller budget films (aka the ones that actually win awards lol) sprinkled in this year, but these are the heavy hitters.
To better understand my rankings, top tier are things I want to avoid spoilers on at all costs and I basically consider these an "event," similar to the shows/plays I will be going to in 2019, middle tier I am equally as excited for (but when I think of movies in 2019 they aren't the first ones on the mind.) and the last tier are ones that serve more as films to hold me over until the next top tier comes out.
