So BB did 50% better than most recent forecasts in China with $60m opening weekend and each day the grosses increased and there is a lot of great word of mouth for the film in China leading me to up my Chinese gross forecast to eclipse the US total estimated gross($130m) and make around $150m total there. Which would leave my projections of BB to fall just shy of $500m at $480m total world gross. The little beetle that could!

A lot of people here collect just for that reason, don't expect them to put their feelings aside just to think rationally.

The first movie and this one have their good amount of action, but the first one (2007) has more. The final battle in Bumblebee had Charlie in it too, she had a lot of screen time, just like Sam did in the Transformers 2007 final battle scene.

However, I enjoyed the Bumblebee movie a lot.

Most people seen all 3 big budget movies that came out, so Bumblebee now has a chance.

Well if BB was meant to be the X-Men First Class for Trannsformers then I would say no to hype train & yes to panic, because all of the X-Men movies after First Class sucked.

Heck BB, you make all the money you can! The more it makes the more we get financial investments into the IP we love. Win - win. The suits make their money and we continue to get new Transformers toys. As much as I complain sometimes too, I think we are all lucky to have our favorite toy line flourishing.

Unless you were one of those people that personally hated DOFP, Logan, the Deadpool movies.

Well all of the mainline movies, DOFP and Apocalypse were both lackluster at least in my opinion. The spin off stuff has been nothing but golden though.

What about Days of Future Past? The Deadpool movies are technically X-Men movies, and I quite like those, to say nothing of Logan.

Deadpool doesn't count as an X-Men movie. Also Logan is a spin-off and doesn't count.

How? Deadpool is a mutant like the rest.

Also that logic with Logan does not make sense. Expand.... It's Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

I'd rather think BB is "Iron Man" for Transformers universe. More movies and good years to come!

That's great news (clicking into this thread from the new front page story saying Bee is now the new global #1 movie in the world.) The movie making money (which it's 50 million shy of now globally apparently,) is good for Transformers.

"Movie years" bring in lots of money, through the films and the toys, and that has been a huge boon to other lines. The movies dying entirely wouldn't be a good thing for the brand or the toys.

MPs might be insulated from that somewhat, as TT budgets with their domestic market in mind and while they do export, they are by no means dependent on it for the MP line. But everything else could well suffer down the line in terms of available budget if the movies do poorly and the movie toy lines consequently do as well.

My take on the movies remains the same: they're not really for me, I will give Bee a chance because I want to support this tentative step toward a more G1 design aesthetic, and I love the designs in the movie and the Studio Series figures it has spawned so far. But I remain skeptical of whether this is truly a change in direction, or just a new coat of paint on a set of characterizations I'm just not a fan of personally.

I'd much prefer a true reboot (that said, as I've said elsewhere, I also want the existing movie continuity to continue for fans of it. There's room for everyone and everything in Transformers.)

But the movie failing would be bad for the brand so... this is great news IMHO.
