Optimus' entrance from the roof, Optimus rolling in the air while shooting, the punchlines ("Weak! Puny! Waste of metal! Junkyard scrap!") and the intensity.

It made me forget to breathe, and at the same time, hoping the next fight scenes of the movie could be this good of the quality. Altho the final scene let me down.

I remember thinking that it was the coolest damn thing I ever saw. Took Pacific Rim to dethrone it as the best fight involving robots

It was an amazing scene..back then it was even more like nothing you ever saw and when Optimus Prime died even if I knew from the trailers he'll be in Egypt I was shocked and I felt like Megatron blew a hole in my chest haha

My first thought was "Wow, that was fucking amazing". Ever subsequent thought has been "I think this scene was a fluke" because few of the series battle scenes are as well put together.

Like everybody else, I was in awe. After the last movie, seeing Optimus cut loose the way he did was insane. Despite four more movies filled with intense action, this is the fight scene to beat: one Autobot, three Decepticons, and a human caught in the middle.

    That scene made my childhood.
“You’ll never stop at one, I’ll take you all on!”

That scene is still too this day my favorite fight scene of all time.

It was okay until the camera decided to focus on everything at once...and it just ended up feeling like a mass of metal jammed together with no rhyme or reason. The fight choreography got better with each movie and I felt DOTM and on had better fights.

He beat Starscream with his own arm.

That was a kick ass scene that i imagined playing as a leader on War for Cybertron as I went against multiple opponents at once. “You’ll never stop at one! I’ll take you all on!”

And since the Autobot Arrival scene from the 2007 movie, was the best Transformers live action scene. Man, I had goosebumps every time I watched that scene.

After awhile, I got used to it, but it’s still a great scene.

This may be my favorite scene of all the TF movies. I was blown away the first time. It's one of the reasons I thought RotF was even better than the first movie after seeing it the first time- it and a few other scenes overshadowed all the negative stuff so much. I would no longer rank it so high, but this scene is one reason I still have fond feelings for the movie despite the cringeworthy stuff.

Yes. This scene was the saving grace of RoTF and imho to me made this movie better than the subsequent sequels.

Honestly, after I saw this scene, no matter how most people thought RoTF was bad, I thought then Bay would top this scene in part 3 and the rest of the movies that followed and along with that thinking, the Transformers story would be more polished and ironed out.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. After that, it was never topped anymore and was never again replicated.

But a lot of my hopes for the live action hinged on the 2007 movie and on this scene.

This was a great, amazing scene.

    My thought line was
"This is just sloppy, going a mile a minute, they've introduced like fifty characters, all manic, ew he just lobotomised Sam, whoa this is great! Optimus is a beast! aw they crapped all over that fight by pretending to kill Prime for good."

Going into the movie, I still didn't consider movie Optimus to really "be" Optimus, even with Cullen doing the role again. But then he said that line and released his second blade, and I thought to myself "That's him!"

I can't believe we got Kiss Players in the same movie as the forest battle.

It was basically the scene that had me keep coming back to see it three times in theaters. It's a monumental scene and really Optimus' biggest battle with Megatron since the 1980s animated film. The 2007 one had a great battle but this was Optimus letting loose.

In turn, the following year when War for Cybertron was released, I was super excited to see an Optimus vs Megatron in the game because of this scene. And it never happened. If there's one thing I can complain about War for Cybertron, it's that Optimus and Megatron never have an actual fight. They do in Fall though. Still, come to think about it, while there have been Optimus and Megatron fights in the various games, none have actually been mindblowing.

such a beautifully choreographed and executed scene. i wish we would have more scenes like this in future Travis Knight Transformers movies.

i think what made this scene good was the epic background score and the choreography and the actual fight that takes place, meaning, Optimus also took hits, was the underdog (3 versus 1) and when the going got tough, he proved to be the leader he was and took on the leader of the Cons and his two other lieutenants.

i love characters that takes hits, get injured but fight back. Optimus was not an overpowered killing machine that rips faces or shoots others in the head while they're down and begging. he was a warrior and when Megatron mocks him, he got up and started taking names and kicking ass. that's what this scene represented to me. and i keep saying that RoTF was still a pretty good movie, up until this scene. everything else unraveled after this scene and it spread throughout until TLK.

it did not need further exposition like in AoE where Optimus beats up Grimlock to prove he was a leader or Drift and Crosshairs having their banter as to why Optimus was leader. this whole scene proved Optimus IS a kickass leader and will rise to the occasion if need be.

compare it to the scenes of an overpowered Optimus mowing down Decepticons as he landed on the streets of Chicago in DoTM or even the later scene in the RoTF where he rips the face off the Fallen, this scene was beautiful and subtle, and, as mentioned, perfectly executed and choreographed.

For me ROTF has aged the best of the old films. I enjoy it way more than I did. But this is how I felt at the time:
The movie opened and I thought “ok this is the greatest movie ever”
    Then it got slow
Then the forest battle made me think again it was the greatest movie ever.
Then I felt like the film died with Optimus and the final battle(although shot beautifully) lacked autobots big time.
I left the theatre very let down, and bummed.

However during that scene and the Shanghai battle I was so damned happy.

Like most of ROTF, wondering 'wtf is going on, why is this happening'. I figured Optimus is trying to distract the Decepticons so Sam can get away, but then right in the middle of it Sam gives himself away shouting 'Optimus'; an exercise in futility, what was that going to achieve anyway, - but it's ok because the decepticons just ignore him. Then there's that grisly head/face ripping scene, with all that hokey heroic music playing throughout much of the battle. That sort of 'rousing' score coupled with a contrived Chuck Norris/Steven Segal take em all on scenario really does it for some people. Not me.

But like with a lot of these visual spectacles, I was watching in the knowledge that that was a hell of a lot of money up on screen, with a lot going on and interesting on a nuts and bolts level if nothing else. In terms of how the scene was handled, I find it as unfocused and confused as so many other scenes in these movies. Sometimes I feel like in a weird way, that's been part of the success of these. There's always the sense of things not quite adding up and too much happening at once that makes scenes hard to process, and at the end of it you feel like on some level you need to see it again. Sometimes it's the vague feeling that there might be something in there that you missed where suddenly it all makes sense. But it's never there.
