Will be seeing this movie again but tomorrow with family.

I saw this the weekend it opened by myself. After that the Christmas season just got hectic. So tomorrow is a good time.

Our theater was nearly empty for Bumblebee sadly. But the movie is awesome.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Let's hope this isn't just front loading but a sign of things to come.

Just keep Fragging DreamWorks away from it. You do not want to be anywhere near that company given the fall out of season 8.

I don't blame Dreamworks, not really. I blame the showrunners, honestly. I know some people didn't like how Shiro was handled (and I get it) but we all more or less agree that both deaths were utterly pointless. Anyway, this is not the thread for that, but yeah, Voltron's final season is how NOT to do a show justice.

Your right it's not the place for it. And I'm all for more animated series, but I really do not want DreamWorks touching this franchise.

As for the numbers. I hope they keep going up!

17% drop in week 2. that's actually better than I predicted. Ended up making bout the same in its opening fortnight as TLK with less screens.

It’s analysis, but it’s not fact. I don’t particularly agree with it, but it’s possible. Two things I thought was off with the article

    1. I think dismissing the Batman Begins comparison with no explanation other than their different in the article was a bit strange.

    2. Also strange how he assumes Chinese audience may not like it even though according to Music’s post they clearly do.

He explained the Batman begins comparison in his previous bee article.
Mmm a lot of discussion actually wonders if China will like or not....this type of story isn’t chinas cup of tea that has been shown before

As someone with Chinese background and living in Shanghai for 10 + years I agree with his take on Chinese taste

Channeling @Rob above, it's just an early prediction and not a fact. Actually, the Chinese opening weekend numbers got revised to 58 million from 40 million. It actually did pretty ok in China yesterday. Their own media is raving about it so, I guess it'll help to get a good word of mouth. Like many countries, China is also changing the way they look at movies. Bumblebee took over China's own action movies by a huge margin. The final numbers will come out on late Sunday.

The movie is only 150 million shy from reaching the breakeven and therefore becoming financially successful.

I should have been more specific. South East Asia but I do believe it's doing very well across the entire Asian region with the exception being Japan.

So I looked up his distinction between Batman Begins and it really is just a paragraph saying it’s not Batman Begins or James Bond. Essentially he states Bumblebee may get rid of what people like about Transformers movies (it doesn’t as seen by the reviews by both critics and audience reception).

As for China’s cup of tea, Music’s post demonstrates again the Forbes author is mistaken because they like it.

Goddamn, Scott Mendelson's Box Office articles drive me insane. The guy acts like he understands the box office so well, but he just doesn't. He just arbitrarily looks at the numbers and draws conclusions based of... his feelings, I guess?

Here's the thing: Bumblebee, in the end, will be a success. A runaway success? No. But it will turn a profit. And saying the movie is "underperforming" is disingenuous as hell consider most people, even on this board, expected it to land in the area it is (~$400m when all is said and done).

Mendelson actually is very knowledgeable and I have been reading his articles for years now...he usually gets to the heart of a lot of box office issues....

However based on the returns on this movie I am wondering if it will crack 350....

Sad news from India. My friend there said there's only 8 people in the theater who watch the movie.

Well, I just stepped out of the theater (which was mostly full) and I gotta say; holy crap, that was a damn good TF movie. From the relationship between Bee and Charlie, to the shots of Cybertron and the fight scenes had me just stuck to my seat the whole way through
Thank you Travis Knight, you absolute godsend

Theatre was moderately full when I saw it night before last, though I don't live in a big city and it has been out a little while already.
