This thing is out in China so managed to grab one when I'm on vacation here.

    VEHICLE MODE:

The vehicle mode is fairly accurate, aside from the hands hang out from the back, the undercarriage and the transformation hinge just below the front window. And the ridiculously big robotic arm and fork but that's movie accurate. TT even managed to get the fenders and hub caps right. The wheels are of the clip on variety but the painted hub caps go a long way to make them look realistic. The V hull shape is not quite right, but they got the angle of the spare tire right which helps to create that iconic look. Overall, it's a respectable vehicle mode. The clearance is extremely tight for it to roll though.

    TRANSFORMATION:
The engineering is actually quite involved with a few clever touches. I love how the chasis does a couple of folding and unfolding to change from a long vehicle to the stubby robot body. And the space inside the vehicle is used brilliantly to store the robot head and chest.

    'BOT MODE:
    06.jpg 12.jpg 07.jpg 13.jpg 08.jpg 09.jpg

The robot mode is absolutely fantastic, and a huge step forward from the 2007 deluxe figure. For a voyager figure this is probably as good as you can get in terms of movie accuracy. The shoulder windows and all the wheels end up in the right spot (how the designer had the spare tires end up in the crotch area is brilliant). And the head sculpt is as per Studio Series' high standards. One thing I think the SS series has done right across the board is the head sculpt; Bonecrusher's head is designed in 3 pieces (the outer baige piece, the painted gun metal face and the very inner eye piece painted red, I believe to ensure all the painted details are crispy sharp (almost no chance to mess up the paint app). This is what's called "design to manufacture".

    10.jpg 15.jpg 11.jpg 14.png
Articulation is decent. The head can move from side to side to a small degree, and can rotate on its own axis. The curling iron arms are not ideal, but he doesn't have proper hands either so it's less of an issue for me. He has decicated ankle tilt and it's very helpful in his ice-skating poses.

    OVERALL:
A worthy addition to the Studio Series line up and for the movie fans that have been waiting for am updated Bonecrusher figure you won't be disappointed.

Awesome. Can't wait to pick this guy up.

For some reason I always thought his feet were supposed to be largely dark grey / black but clearly based on the model I was mistaken! Very satisfied with how he looks from a coloring / paint perspective.

Agreedhe looks fantastic! Any chance you could post a soda can or something for a size comparison if you don't have a figure handy?

Great pics. I've really been looking forward to this one. Do you have another figure to compare it to?

Borrowed some size comparison shots from Kevin Liu’s great video review.

Mmm...I'm liking the design but man, so much beige colour. I'd like some grey/silver on the body to break up the beige like on the deluxe, methinks I'll wait on picking this one up till later this year and customize him.

this does not look good at all. way less organic and fluid in robot mode than the old deluxe. the biggest thing that needed improvement was the arms and they're still awkwardly skinny with mostly useless articulation. now his entire torso is too wide and blocky so his head doesn't feel properly placed, either. the forks on the back look like garbage sitting that high and not locked in, too.

He's not perfect, but damn he's sexy. Those proportions are almost dead on. Can't wait to get him.

Nice review! I really liked the comparisons with the CGI model! Where do you guys get those things?
If you don't mind, could you take a few shots of him and SS Brawl together (in vehicle mode too, please)?

That piece doesn’t lock lock, but it’s on a double hinge and can fold down further like in the stock pic.

Sorry don’t have any figure with me to compare it to atm. Check out Kevin Liu’s video review on YouTube; from memory he’s done a size comparison with Brawl.

Ah ok. And looking at it a bit more, the arm is probably transformed different in that pic. Like it's folded straight down, with the fork arms in a U shape.

No problem! :D  I saw the review, but he compared the two only in robot mode. I would like to see how they scale in vehicle mode.
I really liked the figure, but I'm not so happy about him being shorter than Brawl (I believe their heads should be at the same height). It means Bony will probably be shorter than Ironhide (and this gives me nightmares).

Can the fork become one big, long one in robot mode like on his packaging art? Like how he used it to snap at Optimus like a Venus fly trap?

Yeah, I was hoping he’d be as tall as the new Optimus, but aw well.
