This is a really good toy. Not perfect but, damn close. My legs are a little loose but, I can fix it. I don't mind the paint weathering. The headsculpt is fan-freaking-tastic! Good job Hasbro/Takara!!
His wide chest and no neck complaints melt away once you get him in hand and view from dif angles. May glue a black Lego folding piece under his neck to keep his head up. May also paint that square on his abdomen red. He's like a double win, besides being the best looking voyager G1 we've got, he also has more options for attaching extra weapons & armor bits. More of a bonus since he doesnt need any of that. The qtip method for removing his battle paint with rubbing alchohol is too slow. A rag tip works very fast. His tank cannon is a little to long to put on his back to complete the G1 look. Still looking for a good part for that. TLK Hound's bigger twin blaster looks nice and sits flat but the fit is loose. CW Scattershot/Cyclonus's long rifle may work well if shortened with a barrel tip added. Any recommendations?
Slender legs make Titans Megatron best IDW Autobot version, this one wins as classic Decepticon leader,he's bulky with boots and head as good points. One of very few problems is tank pieces behind his head. Not interested in buying also for not much interest in character, and battle paint is excessive, but remains a very good Megatron.
Good figure, easily a 7-8/10, wish the knees could bend beyond 90 degrees and butterfly shoulder hinges would've aided in poseability as well as wrist swivels. Solid construction and sturdy.
One more thing, Megatron has the most enclosed chunks of plastic I've seen. Specifically his treads, both guns, maybe his upper arms.
I'm still thinking about waiting and hoping that we get either a clean version or a Marvel Comic version.
Spent more time handling this today. It's a solid figure. Really miss double jointed knees when posting it. More range for the ball jointed head too. Transformation is intuitiven and neat for the legs. For the torso/front tank treads it's a little annoying due to minimal clearance. It can be done but I feel like I might be doing something wrong. Otherwise, great figure. Leg articulation, though I wish it had double jointed knees, is easily much better than the CW leader. All around, poseability is better, just could've been better than what we got.
G1 Megatron for years has mediocre at best voyager figures. For once he has an great one. Really enjoying this guy.
Is this figure's neck not driving anyone else insane? I hate how his head/neck just floats there without being able to lock in place. Mine always winds up with his chin in his chest like he is pouting.
Yes, and I don't even own him right now, but soon... Someone suggested using a Lego block to keep it up, and that's what I'll be using, when I get mine, soon...
This is one those things that i tried to ignore at first because i loved his bot mode look but now it drives me insane. Voyager Optimus has everything lock just fine, but tap megs head just a bit and it bobs awkwardly. Why on earth is there no way for the head to lock? Such a simple fix wouldve made all the difference.... Get optimus instead man. I always buy decepticons instead when i can but this guy gets more disappointing the more i fiddle with him
I'm just constantly searching shapeways to see if someone comes up with something. This might be my excuse to go ahead and buy a 3D printer. If this guy had a neck fix it would probably take him from a 5/10 to a 8/10 (in my opinion)
This! When I look at pics of Optimus or Megatron I imagine what a Takara paint job would look like with all the added paint apps and no battle damage and different colored plastic. Just look at this Megatron and focus just on the red paint apps. They are just the bare minimum on this figure. I definitely buy a lot less figures since Hasbro and Takara sell the same figures.
Megatron is possibly the only figure I'll pick up from this line, and I'd probably prefer an up sized KO. That said it's solid, has some great G1 nods and the alt mode is cool. Looks better without the "weathering" IMO.
I put some gap-filling glue on the hinge and it's nigh perfect now. It seems like there's a small post in the neck cavity for a support stand, but after experimenting a bit there isn't enough room to install something and still allow the neck to collapse in alt mode. It's just a poorly designed point. There really should have been a ledge that makes the piece click into place.
For some reason mine resists dipping down, I actually get resistance when I try to push his head down. I don't see why, I've looked at both sides. I don't see what holds it up.
I was able to improve the neck a bit by adding a little bit of Bondic (liquid plastic) to the inside of the neck, which gives the head platform something to catch on and stay up. With a little more force it pops back down and out for transformation. It fixed the problem for me at least. I tried to describe it in a Radicons thread here: Minor/Repaint: - Siege Megatron Fixes...?
This guy isn't as good as Optimus, but is damn close. Easily the best Voyager G1 Megs yet. So I just got this guy, and mine doesn't sink in. On the hinge, when you swing the head all the way up, there's a small half-circle tab that hits against the backpack hinge and stops the head from sinking in. Does anyone else's have this tab? It completely prevents head sink. I'll post a pic in a moment... Edit: That little guy to the left. (When viewed 90degrees lol)
