After only one week in the Cinemas, in which it was number 1. It's kind of weird.
Meanwhile Bohemian Rhapsody has been there for months.

Its not actually a surprise about BR. It's an oscar contender, and movies that are tend to stay in the theaters a lot longer. Mostly for the public that want to see the oscar nominations film and why it was nominated.

It's the best movie I saw this year. That's for sure.

It's good, but there are others that were better.

Screendaily.com are reporting that bumblebee took £5.4m in the uk in its first week, which isn’t too bad. However this hasn’t been confirmed on any of the official reporting sites. Who still have no figures updatedor any film past the 16th Dec.

Two more people on my team at work are going to see Bumblebee with their families / partners this week and i have been invited to go and see it again . Clearly in just a small amount of people there are plenty want to see the movie .
It may be a slower starter than Aquaman and Mary Poppins but i think it will do just fine .

Single digit percentage drop! Box Office Mojo says 5%
Even with holidays, that's very good. And against very stiff competition no less.

The fact that Aquaman and Bumblebee have a time gap helps, especially given the relatively short run-lives of most US movies on China (purposefully so).

I believe in Bumblebee's heart. I truly do. This is the first Transformers movie since DOTM that I've discussed with people of the public and WASN'T the person bringing it up.

Where I live in the NYS capital region I've seen the movie 3 times. Once at at 2pm and twice at 8pm. The 2PM was at Bowtie in Downtown Skiddy and about 1 third of the theatre full, not bad for a weekday matinae. One of the 8PM showings was on the first weekend at Crossgates Mall in Guilderland and it was PACKED. The second 8PM was the following weekend and was probably like 75 percent full.

Each one of those showings had people of all ages. Families, couples, groups of teenagers, nerds like us, etc.

Each one of those showings had at least a few regular everyday people WEEPING ACTUAL TEARS FROM THEIR EYEBALLS.

Most of the times I've heard my peers talking about it they mention how "feelsy" the movie is. My cousin said they really "twist the knife".

DO NOT underestimate the power of a good tearjerker, which for many BB truly is. That's on top of its positive word of mouth as an action movie and as a family movie.

I anticipate the streaming media and home media sales for Bumblebee will probably be a home run for the books also.

So looking like BB had around a $5-$6m Monday which is HUGE for the next few weeks as it shows the drops are not going to be large for this film. Current BO sits around $73m domestically with another likely $5-$6m today putting it close to $80m. Bee should cross $100m by Sunday and I revise my $120-$130m forecast now to $135-$145m domestic with a non-China foreign take of $200m. China gross could put this film over $500m when all is said and done making this a quite profitable film for paramount and makes a sequel that completely sheds the ties to Bayverse a no-brainer.

Did you miss where Aquaman's China release extension request was approved?

Strongly disagree with this, but I'm excited to see what happens. If it gets to $500 I'll be really happy.

It would need to do $150m in China to have a chance. But with it tracking to now open in the $80m range it is a good possibility.

I enjoyed the movie. I REALLY enjoyed the openning scene and would like more of that.

My girlfriend and I both agree. Too much teen angst. The human characters and acting was very weak in my opinion. More predictable plot devices and macguffins. Nothing new to see here, but still heartfelt and an improvement over the last 5 pieces of garbage.

I think the box office represents Transformer fatigue from the last 5 bayhems. Hopefully good word of mouth will build behind this, and the hype will build for Optimus Prime's solo movie...or the next step for the franchise, and it will also be a financial success.

Wait, what was the MacGuffin? I'm pretty sure this was the only Transformers film without one.

The green thing on the radio tower was pointless. Progress bar? They're Transformers, they have far superior technology and "seamlessly combine our technology with theirs" but they can't use a satellite uplink faster than 56K. That was just a plot device to move it along (and give Charlie something to do). I'm not saying it's a bad thing by any means, though. I liked the movie.
