Can you explain you experiences seeing Transformers return to the big screen? What did you think of the film when it came out? Was it an amazing experience?

When I saw DOTM I don't remerber much of my experience but I thought the film was badass. The scenes I remember is when Ironhide died, when Optimus got his arm removed, and when the Autobots survived the explosion. When the Autobots escaped the whole theater clapped. This was my first time seeing an Transformers movie on the big screen.

When I saw AOE I don't remerber much either. Other than it was an long film. This movie doesn't have as many memorable scenes. Didn't think much of it. But I do remerber Ratchet's death, the Dinobot fight, and Optimus awakening. The Dinobot fight had too many explosions.

When I saw TLK I was bored. The movie had no interesting characters, the plot felt flat, and it was boring. I saw it a year ago and there were no memorable scenes.

Bumblebee was amazing. When I saw the Cybertron scene I had this stupid smile on my face. I thought to myself "This is the adaptation I wanted for so long." I saw it with my family. My parents think the 07' film is better. But I think Bumblebee was the best in the series. It was a movie that made me go: "I wanna buy more Transformers." I would list the scenes but I'd be here all day.

Seeing how you guys are far older than me tell me your experiences!

The most amazing experience for me was TF07. Seeing blackout's transformation, which was the very first transformation in the movie, really blew me away. It was like magic! My 9 years old self was grinning everytime transformers were on screen. The CGI was very realistic at the time and seeing all the vehicles turn into very cool robots was memorable experience for me.

11 years later bumblebee came. Unlike many people in this board who praise the movie to no end, I find it boring tbh. The plot focus mainly on charlie's family problem and that's just not my thing. Shatter and dropkick are great, but everytime they appear their screentimes are short. Yeah compared to bay's movies this is an improvement, but it would be nice if they showed up more and longer. While the CGI is good it's nothing mindblowing. And I dislike bee's transformation,the kibbles just folding into his body. It's just like AOE's optimus' transformation, which I dislike as well. Overall, I don't really enjoy bee very much. It didn't meet my expectation and thus affected my experience.

 

DOTM, we will never get one hour of full blown bayhem again

 

Bumblebee because it made my fellow Transformer fan i went too it actually laugh (and in the right way). So it was a good movie experience.

 

Blackout gave me chills in TF07. Nothing will top that opening scene for me, along with moments like arrival to Earth.

 

Total opposite of me. I think Charlie's family are the ones that driven the movie for me. Bullies and Sector 7 on the other hand, felt forced and unnecessary.

 

In relation specifically to Bumblebee, I felt like that 11-yr old in '84 again, running top speed off the schoolbus, to be mesmerized daily for a half-hour. Overall, it was a great experience; however:
A)I look forward to the day when there's a TF film (regardless of G1/BeastWars and the like) where humans are secondary players;
B)I look forward to when Decepticons actually decide to retreat and regroup, instead of always buying the farm;
C)I look forward to no stereotypical portrayals-though Bumblebee is a huge improvement on many levels, did we really need the seemingly- incestuous Texas hillbilly couple to add to the stereotypes from the first five movies (as well as the whole Republic of Carbombya b.s. in the animated 80s series)? That was one thing that took me out of the movie;
D)I look forward to the day when Female Cybertronians have their time to shine-I loved how Arcee (though it was short) was kickin' Decepticon ass, and actually spoke a whole line without being knocked off; Hell, let's have a whole badass-squad of Cybertronian Females (from both sides)-I can dream;
E)Clean house and get rid of ALL the old Paramount guard and bring some more fresh, caring and knowledgable, competent blood to helm whatever follows.

Kudos to Travis Knight, Christina Hodson & Co. on a job well-done.

 

It was kind of like the Jurassic Park movies for me. The first time you see a full transformation is kind of like the first time you get a good look at the full sized dinosaurs. It's a moment of movie magic because it's somehow different than anything you've seen before. But films later it's eh been there done that.

 

I saw the 86' film and was 6 years old, but I couldn't exactly put into words my full gamut of emotions. I do feel that the whole "Optimus Prime dying destroyed me" people, don't speak for everyone. I don't recall being an emotional wreck, but I do know that Unicron transforming was one of the big things that stood out in my head.

The 07' film like many have said, had plenty of little moments that still stick in my head. From Blackout to the Arrival on Earth, it was like I was seeing Bay seem somewhat...mature in his directing!...but then again, I had thought I could believe he was maturing when he tackled a film based around Pearl Harbor.

I still recall one crazy moment when Sector 7 was capturing Bumblebee, and a 'strange emotion' came over me. "Hold on," I thought. "Am I...getting emotional while watching a Michael Bay film!?"

When it came to the 09' film, that thing was an endurance test. I just remember as that battle at the end seemed to stretch on, I swear my brain at one point broke, and pleaded for whatever was happening to 'end soon.'

I was somewhat biased towards DOTM, because they shot in Chicago, and it was like a special event to wander around and see all that they were doing. However, I enjoyed it much more than ROTF, and I will admit that Bay got me in the emotions a few times...though I did get tired of how it seemed Megatron was in on almost every single plot.

 

And the ending of Bumblebee technically destroys this masterpiece sequence from the first movie.

 

Yup  

 

Transformers 2007, that experience will never be matched.
It replaced G1 and any iterations that came before it permanently to me.

 

That's not cool.

 

Perhaps for the sheer novelty and 'ground-breakingness' of watching vehicles turn into robots on the big screen for the first time, the 2007 movie still tops it for me, experience wise.

 

The first movie was legenday. I remember shaking during the whole intro and the excitement of what was going to happen. Then the Arrival of the Autobots was LEGENDARY! That scene has not aged at all!   AAnd the ending gave me a LOT of hopes for the future. And then came the rest....

ROTF had a good beginning but..then it was sooo long. I felt cheated. DOTM was weird because I had a weird partner with me but was fun to watch. AoE was cool when hunting down Ratchet but I would be lying if I say I did not enjoy at all watching that movie.   TLK was just long and weird again.  

Bumblebee was fun as hell and made me feel like the 07 film.   And I have hopes again.  

 

First one was a surprise, I expected a poor movie which only fans could appreciate instead it was quite entertaining and funny. I came away happy about the film and anticipated the second one.
Revenge of the Fallen however was a different story, the surprise was gone, it had a bit of a plot but it resorted to toilet humour, every character is manic and the death of Optimus wasn't convincing in the least.
Dark of the Moon was much more satisfying, it had a clear beginning, middle and end then halfway through it went dark beginning with Ironhide's senseless death and that Chicago attack scene felt different for a Transformer film in that it borrowed from Spielbergs War of the Worlds.
Age of Extinction was weird, I gave it some thought going in and avoided the news, it was a clear reboot with a edgy start, the new Autobots were enjoyable but Optimus felt a bit off, there was no clear villain either, Lockdown, Galvatron and Kelsey Grammer's character were poor next to the previous ones.
The Last Knight I did follow a little bit, I heard there was a writing team involved, one to jumpstart a new cinematic universe, alas it was pure Bayhem. I couldn't even give a crap about the stakes or characters.
Bumblebee is a return to form, it stomps all but the first, it's got a story, it has heart, it has a fantastic pair of villains and hit the right notes. If thye want to do that TCU, start from this.

 

Like any other movie. I took my daughter and boyfriend to see it, it was really good. We liked it. There was even a tf fan in the girls restroom who complimented me on my autobot hoodie. There was some scattered applause at the end. Blitzscream and Shatter were freakin cool.

 

I didn't see the 1986 movie or 2007 movie in theaters.

First three sequels were awesome in theaters, including Revenge of the Fallen, with Age of Extinction being the most pleasantly surprising of the bunch. Perhaps the most pleasantly surprising movie I've seen in recent years.

The Last Knight I never quite liked in theaters to the same level as the previous three. I walked out of that one not sure what to think. On the second time I liked it more, but still nowhere near as much as the previous sequels.

Bumblebee was okay in theaters, but it felt like watching a smaller scale rehash of plenty of things we've seen already with a WFC/FoC CGI opening battle to boot. It may be the most well received critically, but it was also the least interesting and entertaining theatrical Transformers movie by far. I was never quite bored, but other than a few scenes like the egging scene I was never enthralled by the endless 80s and 2007 references.

 

The Last Knight already had destroyed. And it was much worse. Bumblebee in WWII, remember?
