IDW Media Holdings: Financial and Operational Disclosures Detail Cash Needs - Transformers News - TFW2005
Hmm. Sounds like producing tv shows was costing more than expected. The loan from the bank was delayed so the chairman fronted the cash. I just skimmed it though.
Inb4 people who didn't even read it, or looked over it without understanding anything therein jump to IDW's defense and speak as if we can't see the writing on the wall. I'd very much like to see IDW try to produce TV shows, sounds like wishful thinking if you ask me. They can barely seem to manage comics and they think they'll do any better on television? Not sure that's how it works. Then again, maybe Netflix will fund their shite.
You really have to be big 2 level in order to produce TV shows on top of everything else like this. Just get back to producing comics, the thing you're good at. Most of us don't wanna see you go bankrupt.
I’d love to see idw getaway team up with armada sideways and prime starscream. Oh the backstabing they could accomplish. The backstab boys
To be fair, even the Big Two are having major issues with new comic content. It's merchandise that keeps Marvel and DC afloat. They could stop publishing any new content and their IPs are still worth billions. What do the smaller publishers have that compared to this? Archie is only kept afloat by Warner Brothers and Netflix and they benefit from having one single IP that people have actually heard of. Most diehard comic fans and pros have to Google search to see if an IP is owned by Dark Horse or IDW. The bulk of their content is creator owned or licensed. Either can be moved to a new publisher tomorrow. The American comics market is in a very u healthy place in 2018, despite the media spin. Even with billion dollar box offices, manga still vastly outsells domestically produced content. Viz offering unlimited Shonen Jump for $1.99 a month is going to be a great model for any future player in the domestic market or any existing company that wants to compete in the future.
Why don\'t they run ads like Marvek & DC do for food milk games etc to get money in instead of in house ads only
Might have something to do with who they can court as sponsors. Companies have the right to determine what shows get to shill their stuff. IDW may not have the brand recognition that companies want, or pumping out the content that other companies want to be associated with.
This might mean something. I don’t know. Maybe another member may know more about this. IDW Media To Present at 9th Annual LD Micro Invitational
We have drastically different ideas as far as what "finished" means. If by "finished" you mean still selling the majority of the top 100 comics every month AND lucrative licensing income through movies, toys, and video games, then yeah, they're finished.
