I am glad they are updating Soundwave. The original mold hasn't aged well. Too bad it isn't his APAC mode from the later issues of the RID comic.

 

It seems very unlikely that Sound Convoy’s chest can open. But, there are 5mm ports on his roof that I think come from the bottom of his feet. So...

Is there hope that IF Soundwave 2.0 will include his companions, or at least one, at $34.99?

Or, maybe, IF will release a bunch of Tape Bots for another thirty or so dollars.

 

A separate set of tape bots seems more likely at this price point. Or just a pack in of their old Laserbeak/Buzzsaw.

 

i hope they don't re-release the tapes again. because that would mean i dropped all this money for nothing 

 

He still looks a little small to me, I always picture soundwave a little taller then Starscream.

 

It would make more sense for IF to create new cassettes, but it is weird that he doesn't even have a single one packed in with him. Even Hasbro normally includes Laserbeak or Buzzsaw. He is still ten or eleven months out we'll see what IF does.

 

I hope that the cassette bots follow the same trend as their old ones and act more as Targetmasters/Meleemasters, definitely a lot more play/display/photo op-ability there. Their Laserbeak and Buzzsaw are still some of the greatest little bots out there and the 5mm gear that came with the other is really unparalleled.

 

That’s definitely Door #1.

But, Door #2 might be something like this idea from “F for Feasant Design” on DeviantArt...

 

It looks like they have become armor, which is magnificent!

 

Kinda not a fan of the partsforming with IF. Just means lack of storage usually..like with the jinrai Prime. Just a tiny prime with a ton of gear laying around when it isn't on him..

 

Something else to budget for........sigh.

 

You can always keep his 'gear' in combined trailer mode so at least its tidy...

 

The kibble carts for Optimus and Nova aren’t nearly as neat as Bruticus’ or Mega Tarn’s parts becoming a bust or shrine, nor do the Primes’ leftovers have a solid turret mode, neither.

Still, besides combining into a chair—particularly an ejector seat to my eye, Steeljaw and Ramhorn have a kind of Dancouga like mode where they become a pair of slippers, pics below via RoboToyBase...



Granted, I really don’t think there’s room in a $34.99 Soundwave for several combining Tape Bots.

But, I do think there’s a slim chance that the new and improved Sonic Convoy might include a weaponizing Laserbeak and Buzzsaw that could be used as bladed gauntlets for Soundwave.

Now, I may prefer that Overkill and Slugfest become an arm cannon and lance, respectively, but that’s also something I would expect as part of a later tape bot kit, and not included in the base Soundwinnebago Prime.

Instead, I think it’s more likely that a single Tape Bot comes along for the ride, presumably Laserbeak or Ravage... if any at all.

Alas, we might just have to settle for a really good Soundwave all on his lonesome....  

 

True. I just kind of want IF to do a straight up bad ass bigger "For all Mankind" IDW Prime, or the War Within one ( again bigger) with an IF IDW G1 Masterpiece style Trailer. ( Did I hit all the right abbreviated genres there?   I think that would be a done deal for me.  
Like Dutch or Ranton.. but IFactory.

 

Good thing this is 9 months away. So much could change by then.
