This projection only covers domestic take though; what might the international market do for the overall gross?

I know it's not out in the UK until the 26th; what about China or Japan?

If I'm remembering the numbers correctly the very first projection Paramount put out was something like $70 million. Which lots of people were saying just wasn't realistic because the effects were still going to have to shine.

The numbers kept going up because they would go in and change a few things around and tweak other things to make it a better film or to fit the changes the studio wanted in this whole rather confusing reboot or not reboot.

Still $135 million is a small budget for an effects driven flagship brand film. That's still below the $150 million it cost to make the first live action Transformers movie back in 2007 and way smaller than the $217 million to make The Last Knight. Aquaman cost $160 million and Mary Poppins Returns cost $130 million. Into the Spider-verse was $90 million because it's cheaper to do things in animation.

Guys, do you think Bumblebee will have the same fate as TMNT: Out of the Shadows?

    Good question.

I personally don't think this is a 94% RT movie and most of the GA doesn't either.

Aquaman made $13.7M last night while Bee made $2.85M according to Box office Mojo.

Everyone puts too much stock in a rotten tomatoes score when predicting box office results. If there’s one thing following Transformers, and big budget action movies in general has taught me that critics don’t matter positive, or negative.

Bumblebee will do alright about 400 mil worldwide, something to build on. I’ve seen crazy predictions of 800 to 900 million, and those folks were always going to be disappointed.

The movie is yet to release on many foreign countries and won't do that until early January. China is the major player here.

...and I don't think Bumblebee adheres to any agenda.

I was going by the Screen Rant and Business Insider projection on the budget since Box Office Mojo doesn't have one right now. But there seem to be a lot of estimates out there so I have no doubt that some place is reporting a budget of $200 million. It's even possible that the budget fell somewhere in between those numbers.

Smh. Seriously why the fuck are some people even on these boards? Do something happy this holiday man. It might help.

    Edit: but probably not.

That doesn't make sense. 94% doesn't mean it's rated 9.4/10, it means 94% of the reviewers did not think the film was bad. The average review being 7/10 is pretty much in line with what people think, which is a good movie, not a cancer-curing film. There are plenty of good movies that bombed at the box office, however, I don't think it will bomb. Aquaman will make more money with the larger marketing presence and the bigger fanbase, but I can see Bumblebee catching up the following weeks with a good word of mouth. We'll see.

BoxOfficeReports is reporting with $2.85M domestic gross for Thursday night showings. It's okay, but not great. I'm interested to see some weekend numbers on a non-school night and then again next weekend to see if it has any legs.

Why does every TFs movie “need” Optimus? I thought the story was quite clear. Much easier to follow than anything Bay and his writers put together. They said from the start of production that this movie would both film in the US only and take place there. China is not needed in every TFs movie either. And the action was well paced and placed IMO.

So a female writer automatically has a feminist agenda? IMO this story and script was one of the best in all the TFs films yet. Maybe not the best but IMO it’s a solid 2nd just behind the first Bay movie.

Well if a movie doesn’t film or take place in China and the Chinese don’t come out to watch the movie because of that... I guess oh well lol.

Female character used for more than being an eyecandy = feminist agenda.

    Incels gonna incel, I suppose?

On a more serious note - I don't expect the movie being a smash hit. It'll earn enough for its fairly small budget, but the movie franchise is already burned out.

Apparently, this was one of his reasons:

And I thought the flat Earth theory was bad.
