I'm listening to the soundtrack now. The Steve Jablonsy fans will have to forgive me, but "Charlie" and "Meeting Bumblebee" are a million times better than any of the tracks in the other movies. Frankly, I think this composer is a lot more talented.

 

Better than "No sacrifice,No victory" or "There is no plan"?

 

Yeah I don't agree in the slightest.

 

I definitely prefer the two from Bumblebee's score. My problem with Jablonsky's scores are that most of the memorable tracks just recycle the same melody (Arrival to Earth). And a lot of it's just the typical orchestral stuff, about as typical Hollywood as you can get. (I will admit that it's probably better than a lot of other modern blockbuster scores, but only because many other scores don't even have one memorable track.)

Already I can hear a lot more variation here. Charlie's theme and "Meeting Bumblebee" both use piano. Shatter and Dropkick's pieces use a neat electric guitar (I think, at least). I'm pretty sure there's synth in here somewhere, but I haven't gotten to that track yet. I'm not even saying this is a genius score (I certainly wouldn't put it on the level of something like Star Wars), it's just more interesting and stimulating to me than the scores from the other films.

I should point out that I'm not any kind of expert on music. Jablonsky might be considered technically better, maybe other people see something in his work that I don't. Maybe I just value variation and uniqueness. I personally think the most interesting pieces of music from the other films are found in AOE...and frankly, those are the tracks that Imagine Dragons worked on. (Namely "Hunted" and "Hacking the Drone"). I prefer Vince DiCola to both Jablonsky or Marianelli though.

 

I just finished listening to the soundtrack. I really like it overall. I feel like some of the action tracks are a bit Hollywood-generic (which I guess is to be expected nowadays), but they work fine in-context. I really love the calmer tracks, and the Decepticon-themed ones. The calmer tracks are (in my opinion) some of the most beautiful musical work to come out of this brand.

 

This score sounds a bit too generic for me. If there was one good thing to bring back from the Bay era, it's Steve Jablonsky. The score definitely plays on the smaller scale, which is more than likely what they were going for.

 

My personal favorite is "Saying Goodbye", but I wouldn't call this score the best of the movieverse. It's good, but Jablonsky's score was more memorable.

 

There’s some unique stuff scattered in there, however much of it sounds like something I’ve heard before in other movies. Very familiar sounding.

 

Steve Jablonsky was better but I do like 'Charlie' and 'Fall of Cybertron'. I only watched a few aswell!

 

Not to diss the soundtrack to bumblebee because it was fantastic, but are they gonna release the soundtrack with all the pop songs from the movie on it? I’m tryna have that bumpin in my car at all times lol

 

Blitzwings theme "Shutdown." is amazing. Same with Cybertron.
