Yeah, THAT one. The hand was a clean break, rather the plastic housing split a little bit around the screw it was attached to so it was super easy to use the Kragle. Megatron held up to the hair blower and is wax and vanilla free.

Bright side, he no longer rejects me when I ask him out on dates because of his sweet perfume wore off.

Your display is awesome! I hope to have some dedicated display space to make some seasonal dioramas like this some day.

I just noticed - Megatron is the only one with a santa hat and is holding a sack of gifts- is he an evil santa or did he swipe them from Optimus, lol?

Can we be done with G1 Optimus Prime MP toys now after next year? They should do Armada Optimus Prime and Armada Jetfire.

Seriously though an MP Armada Prime would be kinda cool. I hope you have that wish granted someday. :)

Ginrai then. Or even Star Convoy. Anyone but the original Optimus Prime a fourth time.

    What’s in the Box: MP-12

    image.jpeg

I decided to restore Sideswipe and Clampdown to their original factory settings. And, in celebration of MP-44 and thinking of Sunstreaker setting the price higher for carbots because of "reasons", I decided to do a parts count of our first MP carbot. Pins and screw are included in the final body part tally and then listed separately. Tallys:

    Head - 6 parts. 2 pins
    Main Body/Back - 11 parts. 6 pins. 2 rivets. 2 screws.
    Shoulder(x2) - 5 parts. 2 screws.
    Elbow(x2) - 3 parts. 1 pin.
    Forearms(x2) - 4 parts. 1 rivet.
    Hands(x2) - 2 parts. 1 pin.
    Torso - 4 parts. 2 screws.
    Waist - 3 parts. 2 screws.
    Thigh/Shin(x2) - 13 parts. 4 pins. 1 screw.
    Legs(x2) - 8 parts. 3 pins. 2 rivets. 2 screws.
    Ankles(x2) - 2 parts. 1 rivet.
    Feet(x2) - 3 parts. 1 pin.
Gun - 1 part. 2 pieces glued together.
    Rocket Launcher - 4 parts.

    116 parts total.
    28 pins.
    10 rivets.
    16 screws.

    Nice breakdown!

Shouldn’t the gun be considered two parts? Despite them being glued together, they’re molded separately.

    Now do Sunstreaker. :D

I did think about that once I posted the tally so I edited the two pieces glued together to form the gun. I knew someone would catch me on it.

Yes sir. Old parts count: 108. New parts count: 109. Gun edited to show two parts glued together to make one gun.

I'm seriously thinking about doing Sunstreaker because I'm curious as well. Maybe 170 in parts? MP-44 could easily be in the 300 range. I didn't think Sideswipe would have that much so Imagine fighting for four extra parts which include sculpting and molds.

I’ve been thinking about counting parts because of all the recent discussion, but haven’t had the time, so I was really glad to see your post.

I didn’t think Sideswipe would have that many parts either. Pretty impressive to see it like that, and puts things in perspective.

Minus the pins, rivets and screws, we're looking at 59 individual parts that had to be drawn and designed, molds created, tolerances to be worked out and any colored plastic/paint details needed to make an MP-12. Considering the limited budget at the time, that's not bad.

Maybe I'll parts count Sunstreaker for Christmas. I may toss in MP-10 as well.
