It is just too easy to not do it, from a engineering practical point of you.

My least favorite movie Optimus design hands down. It's so disjointed and bland, just shoving a G1 look onto a robot and trying to movie-fy it from there. Wish they had redone the Evasion mode first.

Still, maybe it will look better in plastic? Or the vehicle mode — my primary reason for getting movie toys — might look good and not like a turd alongside the other Autobots. But Siege Voyager and Leader Optimus are on my list, so this guy will probably be on the chopping block for more practical reasons than anything. Three $30+ G1y Primes in a year is kind of nonsensical.

 

We've just gotten Siege Prime and Hasbro's already got yet another Optimus that's identical in concept in the works?

Call me crazy but this figure *might* use the same type of engineering as the recent SS Optimus? That kibble between his arm and his torso almost looks the same as the grill piece folded away. The windows might use the same trick as well for storing away.

EDIT: Wait, what the hell is that Prime above?

Between this, the Siege Leader and MP-44, 2019 sure is a good year for G1 Optimus-lookalikes
