I meant more for IDW’s survival + retention of license - Ryall’s presence may be a good or bad sign as a fan depending on your perspective.  

 

Your post reminded me of this. Came across this looking for classics trades. Made me laugh.

 

I hope this means more ROM. And ROM reprints! Seriously IDW, get on that. You have contracts with both Hasbro and Marvel to produce comics for them and your CCO is a huge ROM fanboy. How haven’t the three companies found a way to make a ROM graphic novel project a thing? Proceeds could go to help fund Bill Mantlo's medical bills. Why am I the only one who is pushing for this?

So why was he fired in the first place? Was he the \'unnamed IDW employee\' suing and they settled? Or was he the force behind idw rebooting? Cos he ran the franchise into the ground and they thought a reboot as a last resort? Margharit Scott said Windblade was canceled due to low numbers...

 

I didn't think it was possible for me to be any less interested in the IDW TF reboot. And yet, they found a way to make me care even less about it. Bravo, IDW.

Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I thought with Ryall gone the license and its place at IDW would be in good shape. With him coming back and the entire fiasco with Sitterson, I am slightly worried about THE Transformers' license with IDW.

This entire situation doesn't sit right with me. It's... odd.

 

Goldstein had been in the position for years. John Barber filled Ryall's EiC position and now Ryall is moving into the higher President/Publisher position that Goldstein's exit has left open.

 

I think this proves definitively that him leaving had nothing to do with Hasbro or the Transformers license.

Occam's Razor: the dispute over Sitterson, and probably some other longstanding issues, led to friction between him and others. When the opportunity to leave came, he decided to put it all behind him, and they were happy to move on. A few months on, everybody kind of regrets being hasty, realises they like each other and worked well together. So when it comes time to quietly dispense with Goldstein because of a harassment suit, Ryall is the obvious one to get back in.

Very likely that Hasbro doesn't care one way or the other.

 

Yeah, I really don't get the hate over Ryall. He was EIC for almost a decade and did a fairly decent job managing things by all appearances.

(And good riddance to the guy who got turfed over the harassment stuff.)

 

I...don't get it either? Granted I wasn't a hardcore reader, though I've read every IDW issue that wasn't the Bayverse.

I thought IDW under Ryall was ok?
