No way this is a reboot in my opinion.

We see Sector 7 is clearly formed, stationed in hoover damn (built to hide the engergy all spark, and megatron give off), many references to future movies (agent simmons, bee taking his Camaro form we see in 2007). The only difference we see here is the cybertronian forms of some characters, and optimus and bee driving on the golden gate near the end.

If anything, this ties up loose ends we had questions about in Transformers 2007 (why is Bee not talking, etc.)

I believe people hoping for a reboot, are hoping to see the cybertronian designs retained moving forward, and at this point I believe it can go either way.

Stellar movie none the less, it was way higher than my expectations.

    Ditto.

And although I thought PG should work with Bumblebee, I realized why they had to push it up to PG13 after seeing the deaths. While the human deaths are somewhat silly-looking, Dropkick's death was really brutal. Had that been a human death, it would have shot the rating up to R.

Shatter and dropkick are inside Hoover dam and neither Megatron, nor the allspark are there. Even after assuming his Camaro mode, bee looks nothing like he does in 2007. Even though sector seven is a thing, bee is quite obviousely the first cybertronian they’ve seen.

That’s really interesting. Didn’t make the connection during the film. It kinda makes me wish that character had a little more screentime.

Nope, there are a lot of other differences. I compiled a list a few pages back but I'll post it down here again:
    - Designs obviously look different.
    - Soundwave and Shockwave sounded different. Not sure how they would go from having legitimate voices to growling monsters in a span of 20ish years.
    - Autobots did not arrive on the Earth because of the All Spark, instead, they arrive to regroup. It seems like Earth was just a random planet Optimus chose.
    - No mention of Megatron which is strange as S7 mentions they want to catch the Transformers to do experiments on them. Wouldn't they have done experiments on Megatron already?
    - Bots did not learn English through the internet.
    - Film implied Bumblebee has never been on Earth before so that throws the whole WWII shit out the window.
    - Optimus and Autobots arrive to Earth in the 80's.
    - Bumblebee doesn't have the door wings, even when he scans the Camaro.
    - Protoforms aren't a thing anymore. Instead, they arrive in little pods.
    - No motive for the Decepticons to get the All Spark to end the war. Instead, Shatter stated the war will end once they kill Prime (and his Autobots) and likely why they wanted to find Prime so badly.

Shatter was basically the Brains and Dropkick was the Brawn.

They were basically my favorite parts of the movie. That and Cybertron.

Btw was Cliffjumper suffering from Space Madness or something because he was stuck saying "I am Cliffjumper first lieutenant of the Autobot Resistance"

It’s a military thing, they’re only supposed to say their name and rank when captured. I’ve seen it in several other films.

Ah, that's true. I cringed when Shatter did the deed.

It's one of those things to catch on re-watches. Once you see the whole of Charlie's character journey. More in that too, if you pay attention to interactions and names.

Saying this is ‘the best transformers movie’ is a really low bar and hardly seems fair to this movie and selling it short, because it’s a good, fun film in general.

This is very clearly a reboot.

There’s one detail at the end they could use as an out to say ‘it’s only a prequel’ if this movie fails at the box office, but even that would be a stretch. One could even make the argument the only reason it’s even there is because that’s the form people are familiar with now.

This is an entirely different story.

I think that's what US military are trained to do when captured. Repeat name and rank to any question.

I mean, it technically is considered to be the best in the franchise (if not slightly under or tied with the 2007), but I see where you were going.
