I had problems with the Datsuns myself but got away with MP-20. I haven't transformed MP-10 yet but thanks for the tip, I wasn't aware of that.

I suppose you are correct, but it feels like the QC issues before are nothing compared to what we are getting now. TT is currently cutting as many corners as they can and still making collectors pay through the nose. Personally, it's simply a matter of getting my money's worth. Seeing the glaring backpack when it was revealed, I was ready to cross MP-44 off my list; the price was simply the final nail. Even at 50% the original's price, the inevitable KO is not worth it (unless it's a quarter of the original's price lol).

I was able to justify MP-36's price, but not MP-44.

    $100 and $250 respectively, IIRC.

I paid $250 for Mp 10, as I didn't do Japanese stores (or didn't know of any) back then. I also paid shipping on top of that (BBTS).

That MP1 price is notably for just Prime IIRC, he didn't come with his trailer til like MP4. And that's when the price shot up.

$250 for MP10 back in the day was a lot! Esp considering the greatly reduced parts count. I also recall lots of hand wringing about that iteration by MP1 loyalists. The more things change...

I got my MP10 like five years ago, something like that, for $235 shipped from Robot Kingdom. He was a small supply found in their warehouse or something like that, a Hasbro anniversary one with the trailer in a clear big packaging and even then I felt he was worth every penny of that I paid. I still think he was worth all $235 shipped from Hong Kong, I love that figure so much. He was a "grail" for me from my childhood when I got back into Transformers (him and Grimlock). So, this new Prime is not for me.

You know I've been spending a bit if time thinking about what it is that bugs me about MP-44 outside of the price. It took a while, but once I got the the bottom of it I came here and started writing out a long ambling post, before thinking....Oh I can't be arsed with this...who cares anyway? Who's gonna want to read it?

That's when I see you already did it for me! You've described exactly how I feel about MP-44 and the direction of G1 MPs general and why I feel they are no longer for me, thanks!

I'm the guy you're describing! MP-10 has enough articulation and accessories for me. He may have some proportion issues, badly hidden 'leg wheels' and a less than perfect blaster but that's about all the critism I can level against him. MP-44 goes too far to achieve the extra articulation and toon look I never really needed and is aestheticly compromised by it. All those gaps, panels, hinges etc... They just break him up too much and actually make him look less authenticly like the character of Optimus Prime.

Thanks for helping me explain myself better that I ever could!

Don't worry....you'll probably end up buying it anyway...just like you did with MP-36!?

Has it even been confirmed or shown off yet that he has a Matrix and Matrix Chamber?

Because if he does, it's not in the list of accessories shown, nor have I seen it in the photos released thus far.

I plan on saving up for it, I guess I just want to see how every square millimeter of the toy looks while in motion in a video before pulling the trigger.

And then I sold it. Luckily I shall not be doing that this time as TT have rather kindly made it too expensive for me to afford the "give it a go and sell it on if I don't like it" tactic I employed there.

Didn't purchase MP36 myself - curious as to why you sold it?

Not really for this thread but.. I was disappointed with a few things, paint durability and back kibble being top of the list. My dilema was that despite my disappointment it was still the best MP(or MP style) Megatron. When an improved KO came out I replaced it with that and sold MP-36.

Well, we know at least that a Matrix is included.

If a Matrix is included, the figure will almost assuredly include an opening chamber.

He has a matrix, it looks identical to MP-10's (good thing as that means it's will be compatible with Ultra Magnus and Hot Rod). We haven't see the chamber yet, I'm assuming there is one though.

It’s potentially a matter of perspective. In my opinion I wouldn’t necessarily say that quality is getting worse - in my experience it may actually be on par with earlier releases - maybe even better in a few cases.

However, the increasing price point would definitely make otherwise ‘acceptable’ flaws stand out even more (paint defects, loose joints etc.), and of course anything worse (e.g., Dinobot’s shoulder ratchets) make for an incredibly bitter pill to swallow.

As a side point (and I know it’s not what everyone wants) I’m glad about the inclusion of more accessories and improved articulation. These things make it far easier for me to spend more than I once did, even if there are minor defects.

I would probably find it quite difficult to accept an MP like Sideswipe (with his original accessories) at Sunstreaker’s price.

As has been said earlier, the QC on MP-44 better be pretty darn good, considering his price point hahah.

When and where did we find out Kobayashi was the lead designer on this?

By accident if he is, he's a serious team person and doesn't like putting himself out there. Not to knock Hasui but he's the exact opposite as far as attention goes.

Point is...despite all your complaining about the line being cartoony ad nauseum you still bought the mold a KO version of it, despite it being too cartoony so who is to say if a KO mold of this V3 prime comes which will be substantially cheaper than TT's which is too cartoony as well you wouldn't buy it? We shall see!?

He didn’t like it for the price and felt Takara Tomy has too much trouble with QC. I stated it before, quality and durability is important. I’ve sent back quite a few figures back to amazon because of their QC problems and the God Fire Convoy Encore stop sale. It adds up. Losing their Pokémon license certainly doesn’t help and they need to up their QC game. If people continue to get burned for high pricing but poor results, then they did it to the consumer.
