    Also this:

“Since we were approaching this as an origin story, we felt that it was appropriate that you got to hear his voice. That’s the simple logic that we employed. The longer term implication of that is different. But the short-term implication of that is, since we really are resetting the mythology, essentially, of who Bumblebee is.”

Short term implication = Origin story. Therefore a voice.
    Long term implication = ?????????

Yeah, that's how I took it too, but I still think this movie is gonna' be a reboot. The series has gone downhill (which is surprising given where it started) and it's clear people just weren't excited for more. Plus, didn't they straight up say it was a reboot early in production only to immediately retract it? Pretty clear that was a slip and they were trying to do damage control so as not to damage sales of the movies and their products for as long as possible. They'll probably never come out and say it but there'll be sequels to BB that don't mesh with anything in the Bayverse.

Only seen one of Dylan's movies (American Assassin) and liked it. I think he's a good choice. Very glad the radio voice thing is dying or dead.
Yeah, I was honestly surprised that Mark Ryan didn't continue to voice Bumblebee in ROTF. The radio voice was cool for the first movie, but now with Prime and the sequels and Cyberverse...so tired of it.

Maybe he'll keep his voice this time around?

That's interesting since if they're going to do a sequel to TLK, he will need his voice. But a sequel to Bumblebee would imply hearing his voice again isn't necessary as the event where we gained his voice back hasn't happened yet. This is a stretch, but would this imply they'll stick with creating sequels to the mythology established in Bumblebee? Lorenzo's words aren't exactly reliable, but it would support the (soft) reboot theory.

Wow! What a pleasent surprise! I must admit I definitely did not expect that. Well I am happy with the choice. His voice sounds young and energetic - what you'd expect Bumblebee to be. And he finally gets like a real, like an actual voice. Previously it's been some guy chosen in the last minute on both occassions. This guy sounds like a young Michael Jay Fox for some reason and I like that. I am happy for once we actually all agree he sounds great.
What I don't get is wether this really is a confirmation that the movie is a reboot or are they resetting the Bumblebee character only?

Well. That sounds pretty close to "this is a reboot" unless the movie says otherwise in my book.

I always hated the 'radio voice' thing because, other than it just being an f'ing annoying schtick for the kiddies that went for waaaaaay too long, it was more of a movie sampler than anything radio anyway. Guess Bee and only Bee was able to find those super secret Sirius channels that only played the audio of entire movies on the radio.

Him having a voice will be a nice change, and is something else they really should consider putting in the trailers/commercials somewhere.

It sounds to me like a "we don't want to admit we rebooted the movie unless it does well, because if it bombs we'll do a cleaner break reboot."

They're rebooting Bumblebee like how they're rebooting Deadpool.

The phrasing is very important here. But also don't misread what it says either to think it means more than it does.
But definitely a great choice for Bee's voice and future!

Entirely this. It's very particularly stated to only say "resetting Bumblebee" and not "resetting the whole." Which goes with other things said about how the future of the movies are going to lean on Bumblebee for right now as the emphasis more to pull audiences into his eyes to the world. Which means Bee needed a voice actor permanently cast. Bee's journey is only getting started. It's an open road of adventures to come.

YESSS. I loved Styles on Teen Wolf, he was easily my favourite character. (Have not seen Maze Runner, these teen post-apocalypse movies are not my thing).
Glad that Bee will have a voice in the movie - I am assuming this is for the pre-Earth scenes, but maybe he will regain his voice. Well, took 11 years but we are finally getting rid of the stupid "talks through the radio" idiocy that always made me think that Bayformers Ratchet is very, very bad at his job. :D

We're miles and miles past the point now where any version of B.B. With a face resembling the Bay version has any business talking. That character doesn't talk and making him talk is going to play about as well as when they made the pink panther talk. Don't do it.

The bigger question now would be since almost everything else is hard G1, have they lost the ability to go hard G1 with Bb?

At this point I really don't know what to think. To me it seems pretty clear that it was developed as a prequel (considering Bobby Bolivia's voice in the trailer, and things like Sector 7 and Hoover Dam), but maybe it was indeed changed into a reboot during production.

I also find the TV spot from yesterday very intriguing...

1970s Camaro Bee, but with the more simple-looking design. I was always under the impression Transformers's bodies upgraded during the process of switching alt-mode.

(Obviously we've seen small changes like Optimus' abs in DOTM, but this would mean Bee essentially gets an entirely new design, but keeps the same alt-mode).

On top of everything, it was implied that Bumblebee took on the 1970s Camaro form to specifically appeal to Sam's taste in cars. It would be a huge coincidence for him to take that form decades before he even knew who Sam was.

Maybe this is just a movie that takes inspiration from the Bayverse as well as G1, but doesn't actually exist in either of those universes. (Sort of like a one-shot adventure). Similar to something like that new Bumblebee comic (which clearly takes inspiration from the original cartoon, but exists separately).

I like how he thinks. This movie feels a lot like 'testing the waters'. The path they take may depend on how this is going to be [critically]. BUT I think they already got an idea based on the Test Screen audience reaction.

Feels right. Can't act? Check. Nothing to do with Bumblebee? Check. Just another name to throw in the pot? Check.

Keep in mind this "reset" has Bumblebee looking exactly the same, not talking, and being a Sunstreaker level warrior. You can see for yourself this is no meaningful reset of any kind. But if you want one, don't support this.
