If you are willing to put in the work, go for it. He's worth a look. I would have felt differently at $150, but for what he's going for now ($50, you say?), he's worth it.

I came really close to buying this guy but, the piddly cannon turned me off.

I kind of feel sorry for the dude that made it.

For Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales days/week, some retailers priced him as low as $39.99 plus shipping. I figured at that point, it would be insanity not to buy him. I still haven't pulled the trigger, though. (Hah. Puns. Even when I don't intend on them.) And thank you for the response. Gives me some food for thought before the sale runs out.

I do, too. He clearly has ideas of value and possibly can make great things happen, but he just doesn't have the resources to make his dreams come true. From what I hear, he uses his own money, as well as designing them himself before contracting a factory to have them mass produced and then he has to hope they actually sell to make any of his money back as well as any kind of profit. From what I hear, he more or less lost his shirt on Lone Wolf/Motormaster.

...i've been sorely tempted by omnigonix spinout, too: love the design, similar problems...i already have official masterpiece figures for both characters, but something about these designs really speaks to me...

I probably would have bought this figure if it was better painted... as is, it just looks incomplete....

Honestly, you shouldn’t spend thousands of dollars on something unless, you are 100% certain on it. I don’t remember seeing any review copies.

I would hope he has learned his lesson.

3rd time's the charm, perhaps? (I doubt it.)

It's sad to say but I really wish someone would have taken this design concept and completed it properly and done it justice. To me this would have been the perfect original intention of Megs and this is just a disaster in every conceivable way.

Sure thing, once you tell everyone how to be 100% certain of what other people are going to do in the future before paying out said thousands of dollars; as the gent had to do in order to get the factory to start working on his project.

That's a bit harsh and unfair. The Bold Forms guy had already taken a ride in this rodeo, once, and he should've known what was coming when he didn't up his game on his second project.

I'm not trying to be mean but he should've seen the writing on the wall.

I picked this up used on Ebay for like, $55? I dunno. It's awful but the gun mode is legit and once I get set up again that's how I'll display it.

You care to tell us (and him) when exactly the wall was written upon and what the message was?

It's in no way, shape, or form unfair of me to ask you to see the impossibility of what you ask. If this one single guy is supposed to hit perfectly on his second attempt why isn't this standard held to the actual multii-billion dollar companies that make the real toys? Why is the one guy being held to a higher standard than Hasbro and Takara are held?

You're thinking all one needs to know about toy production can be learned and *perfected* in one attempt and you're laughably wrong about it, mate.

That standard is held to other companies, many 3p companies who made shitty products have fallen by the wayside. I think it's absurd to give Bold forms some kind of pass because it's supposedly one guys project.

The writing on the wall is clear to see, make a crap product with no paint at a premium price and you will fail! Realistically if Boldforms produces another figure and you shell out your cash for it your getting exactly what you deserve.

Okay, first of all? Dial it down a notch. Unless you're Bold Forms or related to him or a friend of his, shelf the attitude for a second.
Secondly, gibdozer summed it up pretty well.
And finally, I'll give my take on it.

BF has been in the 3rd party business, before. He knows people, he knows how it works, he saw that Lone Wolf wasn't the runaway success he, or others, thought it would be. (Which is part of the reason he lost his shirt on it.) The reviews were lukewarm, at best, and it only sold out in the US because it G1-ified CW Menasor. That's it. (You can still find it for retail/MSRP from China, on eBay.) When TW's version of Motormaster comes out, you'll see Lone Wolf hit the skids on here, eBay and Facebook in a heartbeat.

It's thin plastic, it's floppy, its got a gimmick designed that no one knows what the heck it's for (the trailer opening up, beyond that...) and it's horribly out of scale with the other Stunticons. It was a good try, for a first timer, and it gave us an idea of what he was capable of.

Gladius looked like he had learned his lesson and really tried this time. It looked painted, it looked like it came with a bunch of accessories and looked like it was MP-level 3rd party goodness. Even priced as such!

What did we get? No paint, only some of the accessories, it's horribly unfinished and it's not even worth the sale price or just barely and he wanted $135.00+ for that?! No. He should've known by the time Tef's review came along and it was not mean, but not loving, that he done screwed up. Then, came Jobby's and all of the others and well... The rest is history. Rocket Punch Army only gave it a good review because he got it for free and more or less admitted that without even trying. He even admitted he couldn't (and didn't) transform it on camera!

Yes, the writing was on the wall. Yes, he should've known better. Yes, old school X-Transbots was/is better quality than this and BF KNOWS IT!

Look, I'm all for people giving it a shot like he did, I'm all for people designing and producing all by themselves and putting in the work and that's all great! Seriously, though... Attacking me (and honestly, that's how your post comes across with the whole "mate" at the end) doesn't change the fact that I'm right. BF, if there's a round three, really needs to step it up and actually make a product worth the asking price. I'll be fair, I'll forego the paint IF THE DANG THING IS ACTUALLY PINNED AND SCREWED TOGETHER INSTEAD OF SNAPPED TOGETHER LIKE A FRIGGIN' MODEL! (The screaming/yelling is at the product and Bold Forms, not you.)

He outright lied to people, too. For the longest time, people thought they were getting the stand and all of the extra pieces and no one, not a soul, got those and didn't find out until it was pretty much too late. Was it maybe out of his control? Perhaps. It was at least unintentionally dishonest, at best. That's still not a great track record, no matter how much you wish to put US on the spot and try and correct us.

Your issue should be with BF, like ours is. Otherwise, your words are misplaced and better suited to staying in your head instead of in front of our faces.

Bingo. Thank you. I'm willing to give this one a shot because it's on sale. (Maybe, I am. I don't know, yet.) I certainly wouldn't give them another dime if the proto looks like garbage and the finished product looks no better than the proto. Yeah, no.

Who the hell said I was giving him a pass?

All I ever wanted to know was how the guy was supposed to be 100% certain of the outcome before he paid out his cash to start the project. That's what you asserted he should have done and I just wanted to hear some sort of plausible theory how it could possibly happen at all to be 100% certain about a future project involving the work of numerous other people.

You stated it; you're trying to defend other crap issues I didn't ask about; but neither you nor anybody else has explained to me how you're so justified in saying the guy failed at the point he made a decision to even try at all.

Well... I got him in the mail today...

Not sure if I want to transform this, lol. Feels fiddly and fragile, and no finish at all. Like a floppy old Gundam kit from 20 years ago.

I'm happy with it anyway. Feels like owning a part of 3rd party history :p

Been a day and some change since you received it. Any other impressions? Is it worth $50.00? I'm considering buying it.

    YouTube (Legacy):
If Wei Jiang or another company improved the bits that need improving it might be worth a pick up, but the floppy parts and cheap plastic really make this one of the worst, if not the worst Megatron toy ever, 3rd party or otherwise.

Haven't played with it yet. But if you're not expecting too much, 50 might be acceptable.
