MSRP aside, no way I'd bite on this reissue unless his build quality/QC has been shored-up.

 

I still have my V2.0 MIB for the fear of braking. I looked at him through the plastic clam shell then sealed him up like Han Solo in carbinite. Ain’t no Princess Leia coming for him any time soon .

All jokes aside, he is a grail figure for me too! I have hasbros version and his shoulder was busted outta the box.
I would love to get this version, but not at that price and I gotta save for MP 44.

 

...folks make replacement parts, right?..like, if i buy the reissue and he falls apart, there are means available to put him back together?..

 

I’m in the same boat. This isn’t a grail for me, but I always liked the look of MP Rodimus, even if I’ve never been too fond of the character, and I missed out on him when he first came out.

Got my preorder through BBTS. Hopefully, the quality on this figure is improved.

 

Quick ebay search revealed replacement knee, shoulder, heel, and chest clips. Is it heartening to know there are that many replacement parts or scary as shit? Whatever, I preordered this morning and regret nothing

 

You think it would work swapping the old TT elbows from an eBay junker onto the new one to avoid the shitty elbow flaps of the Hasbro variation?? ... I have the TRU Rodimus already which I display as a one-off in Hot Rod mode but his elbows are useless ...

 

Yes, it is. I was resistant to the MP figures due to the lack of diecast and rubber tires - until maybe 2-3 years ago, and now I feel like I need to be a completionist.

 

Up for Pre-order on The Chosen Prime as well. Just ordered mine.

Takara Tomy Masterpiece MP-09 RODIMUS CONVOY (Reissue)

 

My god. To think I got the first one upon release and I couldn't believe I'd spent 13,000 yen on a single Transformer. Most I'd ever spent at that point. And seven years later, that's what carbots are up to.

 

I just checked, and back in 2011 it cost me the equivalent of 22,600 JPY after shipping and customs fees.

 

Well, sometimes it's a drag living in Japan....it's not all sunshine and rainbows. But I'll never complain about my access to the cheapest MP toys on release day!

 

...to be fair, masterpiece cars did not yet exist when MP-09 was released...

I dunno if the Takara one was better than the Hasbro but the last few examples have been Hasbro.

 

Hmm I have the TRU version but I would love the full on Space Winnebego.

I have the evil version but of course...that broke

 

Had to cut a few things off my preorder list to make room, but I have my order in. I already have the Hasbro version with exploded and replaced shoulders and a Takara trailer, and MP-9B with knees broken in package and die cast replacements.
