Hang on, before we start laying out the red carpet and cocaine bucket, wasn't Casey Hudson also the one who largely wrote Mass Effect 3's legendarily divisive original ending? You know, the one that got class action lawsuits and all sorts of other shit started? And has been basically ignored in favour of (on PC at least) mods that change the ending?

Aside from a shitty storyline / ending that fans didn't like... the guy was the director driving ME 1, 2, and 3. He made something people got pissed about, but he made a lot of things people were pleased with. Hell, Mass Effect 3 is a great game until the ending comes along. Being someone who was part of the franchise from the beginning, one would think he'd bring the stability that has been lacking from the franchise. That he wouldn't wander too far from the main themes or overall presentation.

I was more exposed to the Extended Cut DLC, so I never experienced the disaster ending everyone freaked out about. Honestly I preferred they extended more on the Dark Energy theory, ya know?

Fair enough. I had heard conflicting reports on the matter. Hudson got mentioned the most - although it did mention another person he collaborated with - but either way; I wouldn’t be too excited to welcome him back just yet.

    But hey, chance I’m wrong.

This new Mass Effect could be set in the Andromeda Universe.
And they could call your character "The Conqueror". And then whenever you go to any planet where there are enemies they will already be dead.
But everyone will give you credit for killing them and say things like "You really are The Conqueror, thank you for helping us."

You know, kind of like in Mass Effect Andromeda where your character is called "The Pathfinder" but every place you go someone is already there.

I loved, LOVED, LOVED Mass Effect 3 except for the ending.
Even the multiplayer -which was met with dismay and apprehension when it was announced, was a blast to play.

Same. I'm sick and tired of playing as the human "favourite". It's not that hard after the experience with the ME3 multiplayer!

Oh man that would be awesome. I’d be a Quarian for sure.

Think I’d go for either Turian or Krogan.

    Geth or death, baby.

But for serious, having these choices would be fucking awesome. Which is odd cos its exactly what they did with DragonAge (Bar DA2), but for some reason not with Mass Effect Andromeda

That reminds me of how much I wish Geth was a romancable character in ME2.

I would also like to have more choices for my character beyond just being a human, but I can't imagine the endeavor is "easy" by any means.
I wouldn't want to have the option of being a Turian, Krogan or other species only to have every single race shoe-horned into a generic narrative.

This is Mass Effect -my choices have to change my game.

You know, it would have made more sense in Andromeda if the Ryder character actually was an alien.
When the Ark left the Milky Way it was during the events of Mass Effect 2.
At that point in the chronology humanity was just beginning their membership in the larger galactic society.
Humanity was looked down upon by many -we had not proven our worth.

But in Andromeda none of that is reflected at all.
Everyone was more than happy to have humans be leaders in the new society they were building in Andromeda.

It would have made more sense for those individuals to have so much faith in the Ryder character if he or she were not human.
But, then again, the story designers for Andromeda didn't seem to understand the mythology of the universe they were writing for.

They've cancelled DA4 a time or two now, and the latest reports are that it won't be out until 2022 or later. Expect ME5 to be out 2024 or after.

Pretty much. It’s been a steady decline for 8 years now. It started with the Mass Effect 3 ending (although the other 95% of that game is fantastic in my opinion). Then DA: Inquisition came out. It got some accolades, but it was a weak year for games and really wasn’t anything special. Andromeda is a legendary disappointment, and Anthem was a dud. They just don’t have my trust like they used to
