And it’ll probably be worth it.
Because I don’t agree that the price is inflated that much. I’m not about to get into a discussion about production costs but he feels premium to me and I’m willing to fork over premium dollar for him. Has anyone considered that maybe part of the price increase is because the materials are of higher quality? Paint and etc? Megs is a marvel of engineering but he did have low paint quality across the board so maybe TT decided to up the ante with the paintjob. I’m also confident the trailer will have something interesting going on inside. All in all, IMO, he’s going to be worth the cost.

So if Takara sold this MP Optimus for 1000.00 dollars, would people still buy him?
If Takara decided to sell MP carbots at 300.00 each, would people still buy?

I guess what I'm asking is, what price is your cutoff point?

Sideswipe has always been my absolute favorite, but I wouldn't pay over 100.00 for his MP. I didn't even pay that much for MP Sunstreaker.

The only Bot I could maybe justify a 450.00 price tag for would be an MP Skyfire.

    $450? I'm good with MP10.

It’s simple really - we buy until others can’t, then our collection becomes truly ‘special’ and boosts ego, along with the knowledge that our disposable incomes distinguishes us from the pleb rabble below ... TT is gna strangle 3P by literally vacuuming all the money off the collector table ... genius! :)

Would people still buy a 1,000 dollar Optimus? Yup. Would I? NOPE. I'll get this Optimus Prime but if they keep raising prices and I feel like they're taking advantage of their customers then I can find something else to spend my money on. I love Transformers, but I don't love them so much I'm willing to let Takara bend me over.

Is there any likelihood of Hasbro releasing this in the US at a more affordable price, similar to what they did with MP-10? I know the US MP-10 was a TRU exclusive, but could they bring it over here elesewhere?

Not really. If anything it will energize 3P and KO makers. Demand drives the market and there will be plenty of demand for lower cost MPs. They will thrive if anything. MP-36 is the perfect example. Many thought that was overpriced. I wouldn't be surprised if the alternatives sold more than the official.

Personally, I don't really care about the collectible nature of my figures. I'm not into MISB or reselling. I just want a cool looking display. I too have disposable income, but once we get into the $400 range, I start thinking less about TFs and more about my other hobbies. To each his own.

U.S. retailer option for something this big wouldbe Amazon. No brick and mortar store would allocate that much shelf space I fear.
Though it did make me think of seeing this in a box like the g1 toy for a minute.

If they did it would have to be pretty stripped down, to what MP-10 had if not MP-01, to be more affordable.

If you can't see that you are already being taken advantage of, then you are already lost. the 400-500 range is in the SoC and HotToys range and those are noticeably superior to TT MP line.

Either there was backlash of some kind, Takara contacted them.....or it's rumored to be even more expensive and they are worried they will have to honor the cheaper pre-order price.

Oh I can see it. I'm willing to let it slide this time but I'm not going to let them make a habit out of it.
