Both 'Richard' and 'Johnson' are synonyms of "Dick" for various reasons so it's a bit more clever than that

Not IMO swapping a surname for a forename riff breaks the logic, and "Johnson" is more US slang than UK slang to me (other UKers may disagree). Lovin' that 'shop though!

According to Forbidden Planet, issue 56 is Drift & 57 is Transformers vs GI Joe. No 'volume 2' attached to TF/Joe, but I imagine it's volume 2 of the Scioli series.

We have Boris in the UK but its Jeremy Irons not Johnson. If you follow Lee Sullivan's photo post you'll get the joke. Jeremy Irons - drop the s for Iron. Branson is rich bloke like a certain Tony (Iron man) Stark & Lee Sullivan does the adventures of Tony Starkers

Loved issue 52 Cosmic Carnival .
So many great memories such as Ultra Magnus emerging from the volcano he was trapped in and the Sparklerbots , Firecons and Seacons .

The highlight was seeing my favourite story reprinted . For the last 30 years Stargazing where Starscream learns about Christmas has been my most vivid memory of all the G1 comics . Seeing those pictures of him flying over the snow and christmas lights was incredibly nostalgic .

I usually post in the other Hachette thread, but I did a search about Vol 4 and found this. I got this book the other day and, in addition to the missing blocks of text mentioned above, couldn't help noticing a high volume of missing 'blobs' in the artwork, something I don't recall in any other Hachette volumes (not that there haven't been plenty of cock-ups of different kinds). Is it just coincidence that these all occur in this one Hachette volume? I've checked my Titan TPBs and none of these blobs were present before.

    So my questions are...
    1) is it just me who has a badly printed copy of my Hachette volume? (unlikely, I suspect)
    2) If not, were these blobs also there in the previous IDW releases of the 'remastered' US stories? (can someone check? I'd love to know)
    3) Are Hachette likely to correct this? (and do they even realise?)

I've picked the worst pages, but there are more: I just can't be bothered to go through every single one! (note some of these blobs are even coloured, so at least some of them must have been present when the colouring was done).

Yes, these aren't Hachette print errors, they're in the IDW versions. The copy of the original comic that IDW used as their starting point for their remastering process was evidently one that DID have printing errors, thusly:

There's absolutely zero chance of Hachette doing anything about this, as it's nothing to do with them.

Ok fair enough. There seemed so many of these errors in that one volume that I wanted to make sure there weren't problems with Hachette printing it. Kinda sad that whoever did the 'remastering' didn't use the best sources possible as a starting point.

Thanks for the info, at least I don't feel quite so peeved about my copy now!

Yeah. I hadn't had the privilege of seeing these IDW masters until Hachette (content with my original issues and Titan TPBs). Fine detail blotted out by heavy lines, text lettering jumbled and misspelled, images taken from clearly creased and warped pages etc etc. This is obviously some strange meaning of the word 'remaster' that I wasn't previously aware of.

I mean, can you even call it remastered when everything is actually worse than before :lol

The IDW reprint loses something by not having that lovely texture of the original artwork. That reprint just looks so flat and lifeless.
There's three more in the bottom left panel not circled.

Pity really that this stuff wasn't being handled by dedicated fans that would scour each page for problems that need correcting and even scan pages from better sources rather than just work with the shite being used here.

As for reprints, I just wish they'd finally get their arse in gear and get a corrected issue 47 put out. I'm getting tired of having to keep reminding them and being told it'll be coming 'in the future'.
I know it's probably tiresome for people to see me keep banging on about it, but I feel that if we let Hachette do their own thing a corrected reprint will never happen.

I agree, for reference I will always prefer to read the Titan versions. One of the reasons I figured Hachette was worth a shot was that I didn't own the new IDW versions already. And as bad as they are, it's good to be able to see and compare. There are even a few rare pages that show how it could be done well (at a guess sourced from US pages reprinted in B&W in the UK before we went full colour).

I spotted the big one in the bottom left on Bumblebee's bumper, but believe it or not that's actually there in the Titan version (I haven't checked to see if it was always there in the original US/UK print). Even just looking at my attachment again now I can see gaps I missed. IDW's copies of Plight and Shooting Star must have been absolutely riddled...

Sorry to be a pain, but am I right I’m assuming the text stories from the UK G1 annuals haven’t been reprinted here?

Rather annoyed as I was buying the IDW G1 UK reprints (which they’ve frustratingly cancelled after who knows how many years waiting!), so figured I’d carry on & order the remaining UK G1 versions from Hachette. Only to find them not in there either!

I already own the Titan reprints (and original comics) but I was looking forward to reading the later annual stories such as ‘The Magnificent Six’ and ‘Another Time & Place’. For something that’s meant to be ‘the definitive collection’ though, it’s anything but.

Am I missing these reprinted anywhere else other than scanned downloads? To add insult to injury there’s a small feature on ‘Another Time & Place’ in Vol. 20, but the story itself isn’t there!

Yeah, yet another omission... alongside The Movie Adaptation, the Universe profiles, the original G.I Joe crossover and the whole G2 US and UK material.

    Another Hachette coulda woulda shoulda.

Was he still Richard Branson in Classics UK? (The late, lamented Classics UK...)
