That was definitely an epic trailer. While it does look like a scene-for-scene remake, the animated film had some wonderful visuals so that wouldn't be a bad thing.

Jones is on par as the King. I was worried about his voice, but he still has it.

The CGI is outstanding, as is the music. This will be awesome, even though it could be seen as unoriginal.

I'm glad they kept in Be Prepared.

I'm looking forward to James Earl Jones sing.

Interesting they're including a song from the sequel. Not complaining since it's a really great song.

I actually agree. I just have a hard time imagining how they can improve upon the original. Besides that, these live action remakes are just kinda fun fantasies anyway. It’s a “look what we can do in live action now!” sort of thing. Considering how The Lion King takes inspiration from Shakespearean plays like Hamlet and Henry IV, it’s kinda fitting since those plays are the same story that have been performed for hundreds of years with different actors. That’s not to say I want it to be shot for shot, but I wouldn’t be too bothered to be honest. Just as long as they don’t add something stupid just to be different for the sake of being different like Zazu being a T-shirt salesman.

While I do think that it is going to be pretty similar the the original looking at the song selection we can see that it wont be a 100% shot to shot remake considering they used some songs from the sequel and Broadway Musical

Yeah, I pretty much agree with this too. When I see people dismissively ask "It just looks like a shot for shot remake done in live action looking CG, why would I care?", my immediate internal dialogue is: Well THAT is why - right there - you just said it - it's a shot for shot remake done in live action looking CG. It's going to be so cool to see it done that way. Haha, I personally don't see any of that as a bad thing at all.

Here's the thing, I thought the Jungle Book was OK at best. Only great thing that came out of it were the visual effects. Stunning. With this one, Lion King is pretty much a perfect movie. Doing a shot by shot live action remake would be fantastic if it were to be on par with the original imagery and the cast. Which I don't think it is. It looks so muted and hiring James Earl Jones but not Jeremy Irons is like a crime to me. No offense to Chiwetel Ejiofor but he's not known for having a great or even a remotely intimidating voice.

I thought TJB was surprisingly great and that this definitely CAN eclipse its old cartoon counterpart visually, but I totally agree with you about the original iconic cast vs. this new one. I'm not a fan of most of who makes up this cast, and *loathe* anything/everything Beyonce, especially not musically, so that's a definite downside for me. And, yeah, if you're gonna get James Earl Jones to reprise his role, why not Jeremy Irons too? That is a HUGE shame.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I think the visuals look spectacular, and I like that the backgrounds are (supposedly) live-action in this one instead of CGI. It leaves even more budget for the animals.

I always thought the classic Jungle Book was just so-so. It's nice, but it's not any kind of masterpiece. That left a lot of room for improvement with a remake. The animated Lion King was already a masterpiece, so it's going to be harder to update it. I hope they can pull it off.

I'm glad Shadowland is in the movie, its a great number.

I wonder if this movie will have have any scrapped concepts and deleted scenes from the original in it.

Especially dubious considering that The Lion Sleeps Tonight was just an incidental song sung by Timon in the original. I suppose they could use it as a montage over hijinx in the jungle, (that would account for CtR not actiactu being a character in the movie, like Elton John in the original), but that's kind of what the fill in the middle of Hakuna Matata is for.

It did appear with a full cover by Lebo M. for The Lion King 1 1/2, so I wouldn’t say it’s implausible for a cover to show up for this.

It's fake. Posted back in July from a fake Beyonce Instagram account.

Thank christ... because that line-up is terrible.

Apologies got tricked by a site which claimed it was the official one on Instagram (even had a fake blue tick which made me think that it was the official one)

Yeah, I thought I remembered seeing an article about a fake tracklist, and this hits all the notes for said fake the article wrote about.

Hey, at least it would’ve confirmed Be Prepared. And Shadowland and He Lives In You are still terrific!

He Lives in You with James Earl Jones would be epic. I think the Broadway format with the animated cast would be the perfect way to experience Lion King.

But Rafiki is a dude in this so I think that ship has sailed.:(
