Got my Hasbro MP01 at the start of my TF collection resurgence and marked my first assignment in the Air Force. I still love him and all the little details that later versions just didn't have (like his abdomen "scar" from Megatron's movie assault), and he's just a heavy, massive beast. I also bought longer smokestacks for him off of Ebay years ago so he looks much more presentable.

I still have mine. I keep him displayed with my Alternators figures. And in a pinch, he scales well enough with Beast Wars figures.

Same, just substitute alternators with binaltech. And the black recolor hangs with the binaltech recolors.

Yes, and so does the Hasbro 20th Anniversary edition version too. Which looking it up, I've found out that they are the same images.

Transformers Masterpiece Optimus Prime (MP-04) (Convoy (MP-04)) Toy Gallery (Image #150 of 263)

Transformers Masterpiece Optimus Prime (20th Anniversary DVD) Toy Gallery (Image #164 of 183)

Transformers Masterpiece Optimus Prime (MP-04) (Convoy (MP-04)) Toy Gallery (Image #151 of 263)

I'd probably seek out the US release vs the Japanese release, since it seems to be a lot cheaper. Always liked this figure over the MP 10. Never picked up any of the masterpiece figures. Not really my thing. But, MP 1 is the only one I've ever really considered a masterpiece. with all the pistons and all. Tiny amounts of details like the communicators built into the wrists and all.

And now that he's become far less popular, and cheaper value, i'm far more tempted to pick him at some point.

Still got my Takara MP-1 and Hasbro MP OP. Because you see, these are toys, not girlfriends. It's actually OK to have more than one at the same time.

What? no way! When Malibu Stacy comes out with a new hat, you got to buy it up, and burn the old one! Because it now sucks.

Because single character collections are cool.

Look! MP-1 AND MP-10 sharing a shelf, and neither combusted!

I had the Takara 01 upon release . Wanted the 04 due to being a more complete version but couldn’t afford it . Then got the V2 version and sold off the 01 and scrapped the 04 altogether.

Always thought MP01 had a better bot mode than MP10.

I voted no despite keeping him a very long time after getting MP-10. I got MP-01 on release, it as the the first ever Masterpiece and arguably the best in term of QC, finish and high end materials. I kept him for over 10 years and only sold him off when space for my growing MP collection became and issue. It was a tough decision but I had to choose between MP-10 and him and overall I prefer MP-10 mostly due the the scale.
